Summary: Surrounded by white birches, our twin A-frame cottage has been meticulously designed to ensure comfort and convenience while also providing that "away from it all" feel distinctive to Maine. Tucked back on a quiet road, this private, woodsy retreat is designed for effortless indoor/outdoor living while still being conveniently located just 30 miles from Bar Harbor and Acadia National park, and 10 miles from Ellsworth for shopping and all your essentials. The Space: Twin studios, each with their own full bath, queen bed, smart TV, and dedicated entrance are connected via a well stocked kitchen which includes all your basic appliances and a beautiful, custom built breakfast counter which folds out into a larger dining table as needed during your stay. Guest Access: In addition to the cottages, you will have access to a washer and dryer (accessible via a separate entrance on the back side of the cabins). We have also provided a separate outbuilding for our guests use which contains an additional full size refrigerator/freezer and storage space for bulky items such as suitcases, etc. The Neighborhood: The Birches is accessed from a quiet unpaved road a little over a mile off Toddy Pond Road. The Surry Store, located approximately 3 miles away, offers carry out, basic groceries and necessities, and beer and wine. Ellsworth is 20 minutes away and is the nearest larger town with all your essentials, shopping, restaurants and more. Surry offers scenic peninsula drives, beaches, and hiking as well as fresh and salt water fishing and kayaking from nearby boat landings. Surry is an excellent place for anyone looking to experience coastal life in Maine without the hustle and bustle of crowds. Getting Around: We highly recommend a car for getting around during your stay. Other Things to Note: Both studios are equipped with ceiling fans and heat. The property was exactly as advertised, very well-maintained and clean - felt brand new. Lots of nice little touches - supplies for the campfire, toiletries, games, a well-stocked kitchen. I made dinner for the family every night and for such a small space the kitchen had everything you would need. Sitting out by the fire pit in the evening and being able to see a dark sky was perfect. We visited Acadia/Bar Harbor each day which was 45 minutes to 1 hour drive depending on exactly where we were going and that worked out well. The cabin would be perfect for a family with older kids like mine or for friends/couples who want their own space. ##### Elizabeth W.
