"Bathroom poor, decorating shabby, peeling paint taps and shower valve really difficult to operate, no shelf for toiletries dangling earth cables under basin, suggest a better electrical contractor because this is a recent addition. Shower waste blocked. The recent window replacement is poorly installed . Better clerk of works required. Dining hall is impressive and well presented good breakfast."

"We had a wonderful experience at The Mansion House. Set in a quiet location within walking distance of the cliff lift and with free on road parking it has gorgeous views over the bay. We received a very welcome complimentary drink on arrival and loved the large spacious room. Even with all 3 beds made up there was plenty of space for our group. Plenty of fluffy towels and a powerful shower! We made use of the lovely communal lounge and honesty bar and especially loved that there was an actual newspaper available to read! Beds very comfortable with crisp sheets, we all slept really well! Breakfast was lovely, nice choice of juices, cereals, yoghurts fruit and pastries and a hot breakfast made fresh to order! The breakfast room is on the lower ground floor but is light and bright and we were still able to enjoy the morning sunshine while we took our time to enjoy the plentiful coffee. We loved all the homely touches and looking at all the photos on the walls, my son I. Particular loved all the airplane and red arrow pics! There’s a huge wall of info on places to eat, takeaway options and menus and they also have an in dining menu too. We definitely recommend and will return. Thank you! "

"Staff was very welcoming and polite. The room was an utter disaster. Dirty walls, smashed door, ripped ceiling, tilted room especially the beds (our kid felt out of bed so tiled), black spots in bathroom, mismatched furniture, big gap under the door (10cm) and the chairs so dirty we where to disgusted to sit on it. The stairwell smelled of chlorine and the hallway was broken in may places. Also the grand entrance where on the ceiling the paint is falling off only held by spiderwebs. Mayor renovations needed!"

"Lovely hotel with great views. The suite was extra comfortable and the roll top bath overlying the sea views really lovely. Breakfast was good. Room very clean. Staff all lovely. The upstairs dining room a little cramped with multiple people - this is personal preference though as I am sure others would like this."

"The nightly rate is reasonable but as they say you get what you pay for. The hotel in areas looks very tired. We had French windows but these were fastened shut- I guess because the little wood balcony wasn’t safe. The water was scalding hot. Some of the light bulbs were out. It was clean though. The spa is a good addition with its lovely Victorian tiles. The breakfast is comprehensive- cooked, continental but a bit bland. This was our third time at the Crown Spa and each time our room seems progressively worse/ tired in appearance. The location is great for getting to the beach and a short walk to the centre. It is obviously popular- especially with pensioners and coach trips. If you know you are not getting ‘luxury’ and want to use the spa facilities The Crown Spa is decent value. "
