Nova Scotia means New Scotland and the region was settled by Scottish immigrants in the 17th century. Halifax was founded a century later and has been the base of many military and other coastal operations throughout its time. The CSS Acadia is another ship, which embarked on scientific expeditions and was launched shortly after the Titanic sunk.
