The Caesar Gion was in the perfect location - quiet but in close walking distance to shopping, shrines and temples. The staff were amazing and friendly and spoke great english (we only had to use google translate once). I would absolutely stay here again.
Amazing stay at Caesar Gion!! Staff were so friendly and welcoming! Rooms were spacious and the bathroom and amenities were great! Super close to Kiyomizu-dera and other attractions in Gion! And very easy to get to by bus from Kyoto station. Absolutely loved it!
I was not familiar with this hotel or brand so we were not sure what to expect. The ratings were very high so we were a bit cautious but after we arrived we instantly knew the ratings were well warranted. From the amazing, kind service to the spotless room, this small hotel is the perfect base for being in the Gion District of Kyoto. The tranquil zen ambiance of the neighborhood transitions perfectly to the hotel. They have thought of all the details so you don’t have to. And even with all that, the location is equally as good. You are a 10-15 minute walk from the Kiyomizu-dera and Chion-in temples and also the beautiful Shirahama Stream and Tatsumi Bridge. And the walk itself to all these places is wonderfully scenic. This is a great hotel and we will be back soon.
Great hotel. Very new room very tastefully in line with Japanese interior design motif. I know, it’s Japan, but not all hotels pay attention to this as this one does. Staff was absolutely great and the location was terrific. I’d definitely stay here again.
One of the best hotel experience I’ve had in Japan and certainly Kyoto! The hotel is owned by a Taiwanese hotelier, who acquired the building last year and operates under their own banner Caesar. Hidden in a quiet corner of South Gion/Kiyomizu area, Caesar Gion has the advantage of being within walking distance of all the great landmarks but just quiet and serene enough to have a good night’s rest. Our room was the standard double and fortunate enough to be on the top floor, which enjoys a great view due East and South. The room is spacious and cozy, with a tatami area for sitting. The bathroom comes with a tub and separate shower area, with the toilet in a separate small room. The design is subtle and elegant and pleasing to the eyes. The highlight of this place is the staff (they speak very good English and Mandarin) and their excellent service. Nancy was the person helping us and she was outstanding in introducing the facilities, recommending restaurants and calling a taxi for us. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to enjoy a good Kyoto experience without breaking the bank. Love this place!! Would come back anytime!!
This was my first hotel in a two-week stay in Japan and it set the bar high! Really spacious with dining room, living room, sleeping and bathroom. Cute decorations, enjoyed the bathroom amenities, deep tub, and mini refrigerator. Found it very convenient to local transportation.
We loved our stay at Gion Kyoto. Even though it is located in a very busy tourist area of Kyoto it is not on a main street and is very quiet. My husband and I both slept great in the very comfortable twin beds. We also had tatami mats with a small table and cushions where we could enjoy small meals and tea. There was also a two seater couch with table and a large sliding glass door which we could open to let in fresh air. The staff were all very nice and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
close to kiyomizu-dera temple and gion. walkable distance but away from main street where i can sleep at night peacefully.
this is a nice, almost traditional ryokan because they have the tatami mat/eating area.
roomy. peaceful. close to attractions. close to bus station. to me this is a perfect kyoto location- we wanted to be close to gion. bus ride from pontocho alley, maruyama park, and nishiki market. two convenience stores at 5 minute walk each direction.
microwave available on 2nd floor.
pj's provided.
toiletries available/ provided
Love everything about this hotel near Ninenzaka. Love the tatami floor that came with our room. Very zen. Altho no pools/gym. I dont think u need that in Kyoto. Laundry room and microwave is very convenient to use. Love the smell of the hotel in the lobby. If ur looking for a hotel to stay at in Kyoto. This is ittttttttt
Fantastic hospitality, everyone was so nice and helpful. The location is great, very quiet and peaceful, in the back are the mountains, and in the front is the lake (although it is behind a road).
The property was quite hard to locate when we first arrived but once we got familiar with the surrounding area, we found it very easy to get to the places of interest. The room and overall property is clean and well maintained. There is no daily house-keeping though. There was a ‘complementary’ house-keeping during the 4 nights we stayed.
This hotel enjoys a beautiful and incredibly convenient location—right near the heart of the Gion district and many major tourist attractions, yet set just off the main streets in a quieter, more peaceful part of town. The rooms are designed in a traditional Japanese style and are impressively large, offering plenty of space to unwind.
The entire property is exceptionally well maintained, and the staff were outstanding—warm, professional, and always helpful. It’s an ideal place to stay if your focus is exploring Gion and the surrounding historic neighborhoods.
While public transportation options are available, the location can feel a bit less convenient if you plan to use it as your main base for seeing all of Kyoto, as some areas require extra transfers or walking.
Overall, a beautifully kept hotel with great service and perfect for immersing yourself in the Gion experience.
This is an amazing hotel in Gion. Despite being in a very popular area, the rooms are spacious and very nice, almost elegant. The staff at the front desk were always welcoming and helpful. They helped us with luggage shipping and taxis.
This really is a perfect hotel and I would stay longer next time.
