The character of the place is lovely. Restaurant is charming, great staff and food. Rooms are not big but they are immaculate and full of character.

You booked the hotel solely for the waterslide. We arrived early driving from far away so that we could use the waterslide only to find out that all of the lifeguards had called in “sick”. One of the staff members indicated that having teenage lifeguards this is sometimes what happens. So that should be advertised as we wasted extra money on a pool and a waterslide that was nonfunctional and wasted our time getting there as well. We weren’t offered anything as an apology, just a too bad

Overall, this is an excellent property and nicely located. Cleanliness of the unit we stayed in could have been a bit better though. Cleanliness was generally good, but we found garbage under the sofa in the living room, including a plastic bottle cap, a cracker, an entire choc chip cookie and lots of dust. There was also mould in the shower floor grout. And what is it about hotel bathrooms? So many (including this one) have basin plugs that aren't properly connected to the popup drain assembly, obliging the guest to use their fingers to lift and/or insert the plug (ick!). The rain shower head leaks (a lot) from the side and should either be fixed or replaced. Despite these minor issues, though, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend SOHO Residences Lisgar to anyone planning a trip to Ottawa.
