My partner and I had a lovely stay at the MONday hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Right across from a Buddhist temple which was beautiful. I highly suggest this hotel for all travellers :)

Great hotel, great location. We stayed for 2 nights with breakfast, the only fault was the breakfast as a westerner burgers fried chicken and pork skewers and chips are not for us , no toast or scrambled egg in sight shame as this let us down.

What a special stay! We previously stayed in hotels but having the opportunity to stay in a ryokan (traditional house) was definitely something unique. We were greeted when we arrived, which made us feel most welcomed. The accommodation had the ambience of traditional Japanese culture with a mix of modern facilities. Breakfast was a treat and once again, traditional. We really appreciated this. Although no one is on site, communication with staff who facilitate the house is easy and response times are not too long. The position is close to transport and a brief 19 minute walk to the centre of Kyoto cbd. Would totally recommend staying here if you would like to experience more of a traditional but comfortable stay. 5 stars from us.

It is a traditional Japanese style home. Very sparse furnishings - bare room and a weird outdoor area that isn’t very usable. Beware if you are over 6’ tall. Low beams and dark rooms will have you hitting your head all the time. Also if you have any one in your party with mobility issues be aware. The stairs are steep and very narrow. You will want to avoid walking down the stairs to the bathroom at night! The kitchen is super dark and dank - there was an incessant drip and odor that made the space unusable.
It is in a good location and it is authentic Japanese style, but it is not a luxury experience. There was no support services at all. It is an Airbnb type set up so you are on your own.
Pros:
Real Japanese home and authentic experience
Great neighborhood
Comfortable beds
Good AC
Clean
Responsive hosts
Cons:
Sparse furnishings
Not suitable for any one over 6’ tall or with limited mobility
Weird unusual space in the back of the house
Spa is just a deep sink off the shower - not what you expect
Kitchen had a bad smell with very limited functionality
No one site support or assistance
