A 1950's ranch from a local designer/architect, this diva den of cool is just 10 minutes to the epicenter of downtown & right next door to the Mueller hood with shops, parks & pools. 3 unique custom-decor bedrooms with local art & 2 brand new baths - PLUS detached media barn to WFH in a separate office OR to zen out with a movie.
The space:
Comfort abounds in every corner of this mid-century plush-pad. Expansive windows allow the inside out and the outside in, with four different outdoor living spaces: an outdoor living room, a dining courtyard with a grill, a firepit with Adirondack chairs, and a private spa bathroom lanai with an outdoor shower and a Fatboy beanbag for sunning. Three unique bedrooms with cushy bedding and two shiny and sparkling clean bathrooms provide all the comforts you need for the perfect stay in Austin. The kitchen is fully stocked to cook up a Texas feast. Every amenity is available from induction cook-top to Nespresso machine. There is even a glass breakfast and laptop bar for working from home while watching the armadillos go by. (USB-C plugs - wut wut?!) Or take the dinner party outside under the stars and grill outside!
Everything in this re-design was intended to make the inside and outside feel like they are one. Especially the large living room and entertainment areas flow together from one to the other and through the kitchen, separated by huge panes of glass which allow light to pass through the house at all times. Even the main bath serves as a "hallway" to the outdoor bath lanai where one can take a private spa-like siesta in the sun and shower under the stars. All three bedrooms feature 1950's floor to ceiling windows which unite the back yard and the bedrooms whenever the curtains are not drawn. The whole house emanates with the loveliest glow day or night. And if that isn't enough, the detached media barn serves as another escape from everybody and everything, to work from the office or snuggle down with a movie or book.
Guest access:
Guests have the run of the place including the completely renovated 50's ranch house, the external office/media barn, and an extremely private fully lighted fenced back yard including an outdoor living room, a separate fire-pit area (wood provided), a dining courtyard with an 8-foot long clunky wood exterior dining table with a gas grill, and the totally private outdoor bath lanai with spa- like shower and fatboy beanbag sun lounger.
Other things to note:
This is the third property from the designer of Architectural Digest's number #1 in Austin which is right next door. This latest house in his oeuvre contains a collection of art comprised of the owners collages, his friends works, and photography from around the world. For the caring and refined guest, this house is an incredible repose and a perfect way to really live in a "Keep Austin Weird" neighborhood but also be accommodated in luxury.
Television in this house is entirely driven by high-speed digital content without cable. Sound comes from a Sonos Soundbar which guests can stream music on.
