"Our stay at Pike’s Waterfront Lodge was truly unforgettable and made our first visit to Alaska extra special.
The hotel is very clean, beautifully decorated, and full of Alaskan charm. The 24/7 airport shuttle was incredibly convenient, and having a restaurant next door plus nearby attractions like Pike’s Reindeer Park made our stay even better.
What stood out most was the warmth of the people. Every staff member was friendly, helpful, and welcoming. We especially appreciated their honest recommendations as first-time visitors.
One highlight was their Northern Lights call service. A special shoutout to Kay from the front desk—she called us, walked us to the riverside, and helped us witness the beautiful Aurora Borealis. It was a magical moment for our family.
Breakfast each morning was a great way to start our day before heading out.
What truly sets this hotel apart is their exceptional service. On checkout day 4/5/2026, I accidentally left my wallet and headphones in the room safe. Even after we passed TSA, the staff at Pike’s quickly contacted us and arranged for our items to be delivered by their shuttle service to the airport.—with the help of a kind employee from Twigs Alaskan Gifts—just in time before boarding.
Huge thanks to the front desk and housekeeping team who worked and handled room 350 & 352 on 4/5/2026 Truly outstanding service—We are so grateful! Truly the Best and Friendliest Hotel in Fairbanks, THANK YOU SO MUCH, We appreciate you all & We’ll be back! "
"Older property in residential neighborhood. We stayed 7 nights. There was no full breakfast as advertised or the reviews indicated. It was not even a continental breakfast quality. Nothing hot, just cold cereal. The owners family had a medical situation and was gone. The staff brought in to help does not cook. I've made 2 attempts to contact and ask for a partial refund to cover the $45 breakfast we had to get elsewhere. "
"Stayed in a large multi-bed room, as it is a hostel. The bunk beds were very creaky. Bathroom upstairs was pretty cramped and didn't seem to get cleaned the multiple days I was there. Pillows are flat, sheets and quilt were clean and comfy. Entry room has zero heating and door handle/lock was frozen, which is rough since you are asked to remove your shoes before entering. Great coffee shop walking distance, but not much else.
Coffee is in the frozen room, consistently smelled burnt so I did not partake. When staff did come to "clean", she did it in her pajamas and just changed out trash, nothing else. She also did it early in the morning when everyone in the room was trying to sleep. Downstairs has a much larger bathroom. Kitchen and dining area are sufficient. Chairs in "living room" were very sunken in and uncomfortable. There is a tv, but one guest kept it on conservative news shows me entire stay and hid and slept with the remote. Lastly, I had some canned drinks by my bed and one or two of them were stolen. Another guest had some of her food stolen out of the shared fridge.
Not sure if all this is par for the course for American hostels, but I was not impressed. Would definitely not stay here again."
"Room was nice and clean. Staff was friendly when I checked in. The property looked pretty shabby, and honestly there was dog poop everywhere. I get it, its frozen, but still. Also, I thought there was free breakfast, according to when I booked it, and I never heard about it, smelled it and could find it. Overall, location was convenient, room was nice enough, but I would go somewhere else."
Escape to a private hilltop luxury home with breathtaking valley & Aurora views!
10/10 Excellent
"Great location, spacious home and responsive host. All amenities listed were accurate and in great shape. We did not use the fireplace but made use of the sauna and hot tub in the -30F temps after hockey games for the state tournament. Close to amenities and lots of space, beautiful property."
Private Log Cabin in Goldstream Valley of Fairbanks
10/10 Excellent
"Staying at this Fairbanks cabin was unforgettable, from watching the northern lights right from the bedroom to relaxing on the deck under the glowing sky. We loved exploring everything nearby—dogsled races, the World Ice Art Championships, the UA Museum of the North, and even day trips to Denali and the North Pole. The cabin itself was incredibly comfortable, with a well‑stocked kitchen and thoughtful touches that made it feel like home. It was the perfect base for an amazing Alaska adventure."
"Birchwood Suites is so far above the highest rating you can get. The suite is beautifully decorated with high end pro cookware, plush towels, everything you could possibly want. The hosts, Tim & Stacie, are the absolute best hosts we’ve ever had with VRBO. They had fresh eggs, homemade raspberry jam, bread, butter, Alaskan coffee, and fresh flowers for us upon arrival. That kindness and thoughtfulness is rare. The house is tucked away on Murphy Dome, quiet and peaceful. The view from the house is incredible. We saw the northern lights every night from the driveway. This place is a slice of heaven. If you don’t stay there you are missing out. "
