We stayed in the Wolfie Suites, which were very clean and had a nice sitting room in addition to the bedroom. Very comfortable beds. There are no staff on the premises and you have to check in at a store which is a few minutes drive away. They prefer to know in advance exactly what time you expect to arrive for check in. The check in location was hard to find and located inside a convenience store, but they had very clear email instructions and it was on me for not reading carefully. Every staff I encountered was super welcoming, and complimentary snacks and fruits were provided. The area is a 5 min drive to Volcano national park, and there’s a Thai restaurant within walking distance. Check in and out were in a convenient store and was contacted multiple times about exactly what time we will be there. Room was quiet/secluded. Check-in ends at 5:30pm so we had to make alternative arrangements to get room access. It was fine. However, nowhere in the booking is it mentioned that water is non-potable. Maybe that's common in the area but it seems like an important detail. They left a nice little basket with a couple of bananas, etc. Negatives: aside from a newer frig, everything else seems to be from the 70’s and not in a cool retro way—in a falling apart, worn out way. Dish towels and dishes were old, matted, sticky. The musty, mildew smell was powerful.
