Good value hotel near Venice train station

Posted 27-Jul-2016
Pros: Clean and reasonably large room and bathroom. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent savory and sweet pastries at breakfast.
Cons: Room had weird smell; mosquito repellant? Took 20 mins to become nose-blind Mattresses hard by American standards Coffee machine hard to figure out
Location: Ride vaporettos up and down the Grand Canal and to some islands. Get lost in the maze of twistly little streets and alleys - lots of little stores.
Abbazia is a clean, well-kept hotel only a 3-4 minute walk from Venezia SL train station and easy to roll luggage to since you don't cross any bridges. It is located back down a narrow alley just far enough away from the tourist mob to be reasonably quiet and peaceful. The Ferrovia vaporetto stop is right out in front, and airport bus service from the P. Romana station is a 10 minute walk away. Hotel Abbazia is a pretty long walk to Ponte Rialto and P. San Marcos (took us about 30 mins. to walk there), but at least when staying at Abbazia you won't feel like you are living in the middle of a maze of twisty little streets. Plus, you really should walk the maze of Venetian streets and alleys to really see the place. When we didn't feel like trekking, we just hopped on a vaporetto (the multi-day vaporetto passes are a bit expensive but well worth it if you are staying more than two days or want to see some of the lagoon islands like Murano).

Convenient hotel close to Santa Lucia Station

Posted 24-Jul-2016
Pros: Reception staff are very friendly and helpful with queries. Good air-conditioning system in room ensured a comfortable stay during hot weather.
Location: Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby with reasonable prices. Easy access to the train station and waterbus stop.
Short stay of 2 nights. Ideal location for quick access to the station and when I saw other people trying to get onto the busy waterbuses with luggage, I was glad that we had chosen to stay here. Our room was quiet with no disturbance from other guests and minimal noise, even with the windows open. Staff were approachable and made the effort to include my teenage nephew in conversations.

Good hotel for late travel

Right next to the train station, down a little alley off of a busy street. Gorgeous outdoor patio to eat breakfast. Room itself was clean with no frills.

Fantastic Location and Staff

Posted 20-Jun-2016
Pros: Location, decor, courtyard, breakfast.
Cons: An elevator would have been nice for my elderly in-laws who had a room on the 3rd floor, but they managed.
Location: Very close to the train station so you don't have to transport your luggage across Venice. Many shops and restaurants nearby.
This hotel is in a perfect location for a visit to Venice. It is literally around the corner from the train station and the vaporetto stations and ticket sales are just steps away. With that being said, you might think that it would be noisy, but you would be wrong. The hotel is peaceful and quiet, with a beautiful courtyard in which to relax after a long day of sightseeing in Venice. The rooms, while small, were everything we needed. The bathrooms were lovely and well appointed. The beds were a little firmer that I personally would have liked, but others in our group (10 people total) thought they were perfect. This hotel also has air conditioning in each room which was greatly appreciated after a hot day in Venice. There is a very comfortable lounge area off the lobby with couches and chairs and also a bar. The hotel does not have a restaurant, but there was a very nice one just down the alley where we had a wonderful lunch. The breakfast was the best hotel breakfast I have ever seen. They had fruit and yogurt, meats, cheeses, breads, cereals and so many pastries that we didn't have time to try them all. Several types of juices were offered as well as coffee and tea. I will also add that we had a problem with our reservation (an issue with a credit card that was used to reserve the rooms) and the hotel staff (especially Fabio) worked with me to resolve it to ensure that our reservation was confirmed even though we had made the reservation through Expedia.

Venice Hotel Abbazia

Posted 1-Jun-2016
Pros: Location and the awesome staff members are the key features that make this a hotel I will visit again.
Cons: Not much. The age and rustic nature of the hotel add to the charm. Staff could not be any more polite or adept at helping hotel visitors.
Location: Location is ideal. You can access everything you need to see in Venice very easily.
Stayed three nights at the end of May before embarking on a cruise. Hotel location is ideal, just a few steps from Ferrovia vaporetto stop, train station and cruise line port. Hotel is an older historic monastery that has been coverted to a hotel. Definitely a 3-star with a 5 star staff. All the staff members went out of their way to assist us getting around and overall advice about things a first-timer needs to know about Venice. Every staff member we met went overboard to lend assistance. They helped my wife and I to get our bearings and how to navigate this fantastic city. I have a bad back and it flared up just before I began my trip. The staff made last minute adjustments to accommodate me by putting us on a lower floor and helping with bags. Room was adequate with a nice shower. Overall, just a bit small by American standards, but that was no surprise to us since we travel overseas a lot. Breakfast was included in my rate and pretty good. Courtyard is beautiful. Really enjoyed our stay and I will definitely return again.

Close to main train station, convenient.

Posted 21-May-2016
Pros: Cleaniness
Cons: Front Desk to answer calls late at night
Location: Convenient located next to Main train station
There's a nice court yard as shown on website, however, people party loudly till after mid-night. No one answer calls at front desk when we attempt to complaint, gave up eventually.

Nice hotel very close to sta Lucia train station

Posted 8-May-2016
Saved us from walking far with our luggage... No bridges to cross and no boat to take...everything seems old and worn out but convenience trumps everything for us...breakfast was ok wish they can do better as the price is almost that of a 4 star hotel...bathroom was terrible...staff was nice
