Not bad but not great!

Posted 25-Aug-2016
Pros: Near the train and good restaurants.
Cons: The rooms, beds and bathrooms.
Location: Train station and restaurants.
This hotel is good to only sleep in. The rooms are super small, as is the shower. Further, in order to take a shower, its like going on a mission because they are so small, the shower head hits the wall making it impossible to rinse off. In addition, please be aware that the bathroom floor will be soaked after this whole ordeal. The hotel is some what located near all of the attractions. It is however very near the train terminal, and restaurants. For those of you who appreciate good wifi service, I must warn you that the wifi does not work at night. Breakfast was just okay; nothing to brag about. My overall final comment about this hotel is that it is not a bad hotel but, it is not great either.

Hotel abbazia

Posted 3-Aug-2016
Pros: In handy location
Cons: Breakfast was basic could do with a toastet
Location: Very handy for bars.restaurants and shops. Next to train station and close to water bus
Hotel web site was updated after we booked and it seems the upgraded rooms were in hotel abbazia delux. We sent email direct to hotel to request an upgrade but they never replied. We booked this hotel last November so we were disappointed when we arrived to find out they had split the hotel into two. Hotel abbazia had basic rooms.

Good value hotel near Venice train station

Posted 27-Jul-2016
Pros: Clean and reasonably large room and bathroom. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent savory and sweet pastries at breakfast.
Cons: Room had weird smell; mosquito repellant? Took 20 mins to become nose-blind Mattresses hard by American standards Coffee machine hard to figure out
Location: Ride vaporettos up and down the Grand Canal and to some islands. Get lost in the maze of twistly little streets and alleys - lots of little stores.
Abbazia is a clean, well-kept hotel only a 3-4 minute walk from Venezia SL train station and easy to roll luggage to since you don't cross any bridges. It is located back down a narrow alley just far enough away from the tourist mob to be reasonably quiet and peaceful. The Ferrovia vaporetto stop is right out in front, and airport bus service from the P. Romana station is a 10 minute walk away. Hotel Abbazia is a pretty long walk to Ponte Rialto and P. San Marcos (took us about 30 mins. to walk there), but at least when staying at Abbazia you won't feel like you are living in the middle of a maze of twisty little streets. Plus, you really should walk the maze of Venetian streets and alleys to really see the place. When we didn't feel like trekking, we just hopped on a vaporetto (the multi-day vaporetto passes are a bit expensive but well worth it if you are staying more than two days or want to see some of the lagoon islands like Murano).

Convenient hotel close to Santa Lucia Station

Posted 24-Jul-2016
Pros: Reception staff are very friendly and helpful with queries. Good air-conditioning system in room ensured a comfortable stay during hot weather.
Location: Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby with reasonable prices. Easy access to the train station and waterbus stop.
Short stay of 2 nights. Ideal location for quick access to the station and when I saw other people trying to get onto the busy waterbuses with luggage, I was glad that we had chosen to stay here. Our room was quiet with no disturbance from other guests and minimal noise, even with the windows open. Staff were approachable and made the effort to include my teenage nephew in conversations.

Good hotel for late travel

Right next to the train station, down a little alley off of a busy street. Gorgeous outdoor patio to eat breakfast. Room itself was clean with no frills.

Fantastic Location and Staff

Posted 20-Jun-2016
Pros: Location, decor, courtyard, breakfast.
Cons: An elevator would have been nice for my elderly in-laws who had a room on the 3rd floor, but they managed.
Location: Very close to the train station so you don't have to transport your luggage across Venice. Many shops and restaurants nearby.
This hotel is in a perfect location for a visit to Venice. It is literally around the corner from the train station and the vaporetto stations and ticket sales are just steps away. With that being said, you might think that it would be noisy, but you would be wrong. The hotel is peaceful and quiet, with a beautiful courtyard in which to relax after a long day of sightseeing in Venice. The rooms, while small, were everything we needed. The bathrooms were lovely and well appointed. The beds were a little firmer that I personally would have liked, but others in our group (10 people total) thought they were perfect. This hotel also has air conditioning in each room which was greatly appreciated after a hot day in Venice. There is a very comfortable lounge area off the lobby with couches and chairs and also a bar. The hotel does not have a restaurant, but there was a very nice one just down the alley where we had a wonderful lunch. The breakfast was the best hotel breakfast I have ever seen. They had fruit and yogurt, meats, cheeses, breads, cereals and so many pastries that we didn't have time to try them all. Several types of juices were offered as well as coffee and tea. I will also add that we had a problem with our reservation (an issue with a credit card that was used to reserve the rooms) and the hotel staff (especially Fabio) worked with me to resolve it to ensure that our reservation was confirmed even though we had made the reservation through Expedia.
