"Loved how helpful the staff was and it was nice to have the free shuttle to and from the park to the hotel. Housekeeping was very nice and when asked for extra items, they did not hesitate to give it to us. They have excellent room service, a must when staying here. Valet was very professional and fast. Over all my family and I loved this place and we will be back!!"

Tilt Hotel Universal-Hollywood, an AGA Collection Hotel

Tilt Hotel Universal-Hollywood, an AGA Collection Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"The Tilt was a great choice for the first half of our vacation before heading down to SoCal. The location was amazing! We visited Universal Studios Hollywood, did studio tours, Griffith Observatory, Horseback riding in the Hollywood Hills, etc., and we never had a long drive to any of these places. The staff were friendly and helpful. We felt safe here and the parking was easy to get to and not too expensive for LA. The rooms could use some updating and repairs, but overall it was clean and secure. I would stay here again and recommend it to friends!"

"Check in was fast, we got a room on the third floor and from out window we saw the HOLLYWOOD sign. Room was clean, nice and had everything we needed. Parking in the back bust still $18 per day which bring the final price up but overall everything was just fine."

The Hollywood Franklin Hotel near Universal Studios

The Hollywood Franklin Hotel near Universal Studios

10/10 Excellent
"Great place very close walk to Hollywood Blvd and Universal is just a quick 5 minute drive down the 101. Staff were all great and the hotel has great history. Well maintained place with very clean pool and spacious room. Clark diner below is definitely a great place to eat. Highly recommend to anyone going to LA. Note though that you should just pay for the valet parking as there is no parking on site and street parking is nonexistent as this is Hollywood. Valet parking is $38.50USD a day and there is also a resort fee of $10 a day as well. Well worth the extra cost so just pay and forget about it and enjoy your stay!!!!"

Frequently asked questions

How much does a budget hotel in Universal City cost?
Budget hotel prices in Universal City vary, but you can find a great deal from CA $89 on Expedia. Which area of Universal City is best to stay in for cheap hotels?
For budget-conscious solo travellers visiting Universal City, areas just outside the immediate theme park vicinity, such as parts of Studio City or North Hollywood, will offer more affordable hotel options. While Universal City itself is geared towards premium experiences, venturing slightly further afield can yield significant savings without sacrificing convenience.Studio City, located just across the Hollywood Freeway, provides a pleasant, accessible base. It offers a range of motels and smaller hotels that are often more competitively priced than those directly adjacent to the theme park. From here, you can easily access Universal City via a short bus ride or ride-sharing service, or even a brisk walk if your accommodation is closer to the border.North Hollywood, a bit further out but still well-connected, is another excellent choice for solo travellers seeking value. This neighbourhood is a hub for public transport, including the Metro Red Line, which provides direct access to Universal City/Studio City station in minutes. North Hollywood features a diverse array of budget-friendly hotels, hostels, and extended-stay options.
When is the most affordable time to visit Universal City?
The most affordable time to visit Universal City is generally during the off-season, specifically in late January, February (excluding President's Day weekend), and September. These periods typically see fewer crowds and lower prices for accommodation and flights.Solo travellers will find that visiting during these quieter months allows for a more relaxed experience at the theme parks, with shorter wait times for attractions. This can be particularly appealing for those who prefer to explore at their own pace without the hustle and bustle of peak season. You'll also likely find better deals on single occupancy rooms. For couples, travelling in the off-season provides a more intimate atmosphere. Many hotels offer reduced rates, and you'll find it easier to secure reservations at popular restaurants or enjoy the Universal CityWalk atmosphere without large crowds.
What free activities should we do in Universal City?
While Universal City is primarily known for its paid attractions, solo travellers can still find a few enjoyable, free activities to experience. The most prominent free option is exploring Universal CityWalk, an entertainment complex brimming with shops, restaurants, and vibrant street performers.Wandering through CityWalk offers a lively option without requiring a purchase. You can browse the unique storefronts, enjoy the music emanating from various venues, and simply soak in the energetic ambiance. It's a great spot for people-watching and experiencing the buzz of the area, particularly in the evenings when the lights illuminate the promenade.
Is it cheaper to book flights and a hotel in Universal City as a package?

Bundling can lead to significant savings, especially for international travel or when booking well in advance. However, savings vary depending on factors like destination, travel dates, and availability, so it's wise to compare options. Can I cancel my budget hotel reservation on Expedia?
