Find fabulous museums and galleries among the immense architecture in this town centre, a global leader in design and innovation.

Head to the top of one of the planet’s tallest buildings and gaze out over the ever-growing business district of Downtown Toronto. View the work of some of history’s greatest artists and get close to one of sport’s most renowned trophies.

Any trip to Toronto should include a visit to the CN Tower, one of the city’s modern and very visible symbols. The tallest freestanding structure in the Americas stands at an impressive 1,814 feet (553 metres), dwarfing the surrounding skyline. Take the elevator to the top deck to see spectacular views of the city and Lake Ontario. Enjoy a sumptuous meal at 360, the revolving restaurant, before you head back to ground level.

Back on the ground, visit the Art Gallery of Ontario on Dundas Street. The works of art here span all genres and ages, with pieces by Picasso and Warhol alongside European Masters such as Monet and Bernini. Don’t miss Ruben’s Massacre of the Innocents and the largest collection of Henry Moore sculptures in the world.

Whether you love to shop or not, check out the PATH. This mind-boggling walkway beneath the city has over 1,200 shops in arcades sprawling for 19 miles (30 kilometres) and connects many of the city’s buildings and tourist spots. Use this convenient underground route during wintry weather.

Another great shopping option is the Eaton Centre off Yonge Street, with over 230 stores, including many major American fashion brands. See the giant lighted reindeer and Christmas tree under the centre’s glass roof during the year-end holiday season.

Sports fans can catch a game at the Air Canada Centre or go straight to the Hockey Hall of Fame. Marvel at an amazing assortment of signed equipment and memorabilia. Have a picture taken beside the real Stanley Cup, engraved with hundreds of names of hockey champions.

Downtown Toronto backs onto the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario. The city has a wide variety of accommodations. Downtown hotels may be more expensive than in other regions. Choose from a wealth of restaurants nearby, with excellent Asian food available.

"Comfortable hotel. Bed was nice and roomy. Their automated check-in machine didn’t produce a working keycard for me.
