We were a large group of friends, five couples. The home was comfortable, spacious, with lovely amenities. We enjoyed cooking in the large kitchen which had a great subzero fridge & extra ice maker. The two coffee makers definitely came in handy as well. We used the pool daily & enjoyed the game room. We never found the controls to the hot tub though. The rooms were clean, well appointed & comfortable. We saw the gator, dolphin, & manatee from the decks as well. All in all it was hard to leave such a lovely home! We all had plenty of room and fantastic sleeping arrangements. The balcony was the perfect place to have coffee and watch the sunrise. The pool was a little warm during the day for our liking but in the evening it was nice to relax in once the air temps cooled down a bit. While the weather didn’t’ fully cooperate as we had numerous cool days that prevented us from lounging outdoors and in the pool, we nonetheless had fun with family and friends, and exploring the area, including a couple trips down to Key West. When the weather was nice, mostly during our first week, everyone was in the heated pool.We filled the five bedrooms the first week and everyone was comfortable. Though the furnace/heater for the two northside bedrooms did not work, yes it was that chilly, for out second week the owner brought over a couple space heaters that helped mitigate the chill. The glass sliders were a bit worn and did not fully close and likely need just a slight bit of maintenance. But hey, it’s only chilly in the Florida Keys for about four weeks out of the year so we could understand not jumping right in with repairs. It can be done later. We were fine.The views from the home were wonderful. Watching wildlife on the water, above the water, and in the water was fun. We had multiple visits from manatees, including one morning when five of them swam by the dock. We kayaked every day and saw the crocodile, manatees and lots of birds! The pool was warm (oddly the hot tub not so much) and the breezeway was a terrific place to hang out all day. We are boaters and appreciated the dock space and the ease of getting out to the bay. The only complaint was a bug problem. The mosquitos were very bad. And we had an ant infestation in the game room. The property manager immediately called in an exterminator and had it taken care of. Due to being this time of year and being by the water this type bug issue happens. It has ice makers, which is great for keeping up in the heat. The one big down side is the freezer in the kitchen could not keep ice cream frozen. This caused some trouble as the only other freezer was for bait. So no frozen things on the trip. The second one are locks on doors that kids could lock. The layout of property is spectacular and the views are outstanding however, it’s time for the owner to spend a little bit of the 10,000 a week on some routine maintenance. For example, the pool heater does not operate by thermostat only full on or full off. the hot tub has no jets and you are unable to make it hotter than the pool( this is a know issue by the owner),no operating lighting in the pool and there should be handrails near the steps of the pool.The davits are completely inoperable in fact, missing equipment for them to operate. It’s time for the property to be updated with adequate interior lighting as many of the bathrooms are dark and hard to see. overall, the property needs some repairs and updating for the amount of money that is charged for a weekly rental. The layout of the home was perfect with the multiple bedrooms and baths. The kitchen, living and dining rooms were very open so we felt like we could use the entire main floor but not be crowded. The pool was a great temp and we spent a lot of our time just hanging out there. We saw manatees from the dock and were able to rent a boat and keep it overnight. The fishermen and women in our group appreciated that there were fishing poles available. The home is large enough for our 10 family members to never feel crowded. The pool, the beach area for fishing, the dock, the game room all add to our fun. We love that the home is in a residential area and we can walk, run, and ride bikes in a safe environment. Shopping, restaurants, and water activities are in close proximity.
