![Strathcona Provincial Park is British Columbia's oldest park designated in 1911 and located at almost the exact centre of Vancouver Island. The park is approximately 250,000 hectares of rugged mountains, lakes and rivers, trails for all skill levels, waterfalls, campgrounds, and more importantly off the grid so no wifi. From the campground, it is about a 90 minute drive into the park with narrow twisty roads and pitch black at night so use caution when driving at night. The wildlife often found in this park are cougars, wolves, bears, fox, and birds of many species. Snow remains on the mountains year round and is a popular spot for fishing. With a history dating back 380 million years, it has a history of violent volcanic eruptions. Buttle Lake and Forbidden Plateau inside the park offer a variety of visitor friendly developments, but the rest of the park remains untouched for those who are seeking a more wild and natural experience. « Lovely little place, perfect for my needs. Very accommodating hosts. I appreciated the tea & coffee supply, along with the good quality soaps for the shower and a selection of DVDs. It was nice and warm inside. Very clean. Easy to get to - we saw SO many deer! I think upgrading the bed to a queen size would be the best improvement for this place and I’d be more likely to come back. As well, if you get up to pee in the night: don’t flush or the loud water pump will surely wake your companion....

« It was our first time staying there and it was as shown and described on the listing. Very clean, great wifi, quiet, surrounded by nature with an ocean view and breeze. All the amenities you could need are available. The staff on site were superb. They have a recycling centre which is unheard of at most places. There is a food truck that looked great but we didn’t partake. They even have two (big dog/small dog) off leash fenced areas to let the doggos roam. The owner (Marc) was always...

« This property is absolutely perfect. The home is beautiful and you feel very much at home. They have provide pretty much anything you need to make it easy for you to be at home. The area is great - location is perfect - you feel safe and secure and theres a nice driveway to park. The yard is beautifully manicured and they even have a small patio with BBQ to use. Our family would definitely stay here again if we are back in the area. . Thanks for everything ! »

"Our stay was awesome! The Villa is great. The hosts have made everything so that we were comfortable in every room, even on the private terrace or on the private beach. We enjoyed everything. We saw many eagles, a dear, a rabbit. Also, ou 12 years old son and I used the kayaks available on the beach, and a curious seal came 1 meter close to my son! That was amazing. We went for great hiking in the parks close to the Villa. We also went for a whale watching tour with Big Animals Encounters… we saw 9 humpback whales, many seals, sea lions, dolphins, … and 8 orcas! The hosts were very responsive and made sure we had everything we needed. The spa worked perfectly. I highly recommend this place!"
