Easily one of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed at!

Great location for trains, Helpful friendly staff, Clean, Cheap

Good place to stay as solo traveler

Great second stay!

The private room was quite large and the service was excellent. I love that they have an assortment of board games in the common area, as well as a dart board! Minor gripes: * There are only two washing machines and two dryers. On at least two occasions I had to reschedule my laundry chores because both were occupied at the time. Fortunately, there is a separate laundromat mere steps away from the hostel. * Skip the breakfast if you have to pay extra for it. It’s literally two slices of...

I was so glad I stayed here. The staff were all so friendly and polite. They were very accommodating with any help I needed. Facilities were great and clean, refreshed towels/toiletries every day. Free breakfast included was so convenient and tasty. Very reasonably priced stay. Loved this hotel!

Friendly staff! Nice Atmosphere. Comfortable Beds!

A fantastic hostel to start my trip on. The staff were friendly, helpful, and spoke decent English. They have maps and guides for the surrounding area, so you’ll know all the restaurants and train stations around you. Very accessible, as it is within walking distance of a train station, even with a large suitcase. It’s also handy having the cafe on the main floor with a great breakfast and coffee!

Great hostel for socializing and making great friends. The staff do an amazing job with fun activities and good energy all around. Really enjoyed my stay here ☺️

Kind staff, phenomenal location, and beautiful room! It’s located a short walk away from main shopping streets as well as Nara Park. It did not bother me however it’s worth mentioning that there are multiple bathrooms to share between the guests and the walls are very thin so sounds other make can be heard easily. However, when next in Nara, I will certainly stay here again!

The place is clean, the bedrooms are spacious, the common rooms are cozy, the showers are high pressure, and the staff were very friendly. The only complaint is that the house dog situation was, for the time that I was there, a little concerning. They were quite vocal and unfriendly for the most part, apparently because they were in heat. I believe the staff when they say it's not always like that. But overall I greatly enjoyed Guest House Matsu so much that I kept wanting to spend time there...

Super friendly and clean! Thank you!

The 6-8 pod room has views onto the cat shelter attached. My teen kids loved watching the cats through the windows. There are curtains for privacy. The room & private bath was clean and super fun for a night. Comes with access to lounge in adjacent hostel (which we did not need to use). Ladies at cat shelter very friendly and my kids could play with the cats for an hour as part of the room rental. Highly recommend if you love cats and want accommodation that is a bit different!

Absolutely lovely little bar and guesthouse. Owner and staff were so friendly and helpful. 10/10 would recommend
