Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Common areas were very well decorated and clean, but the room itself was a bit dingy. Area is walkable, but must be cautious as you will walk on the road

I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Papa Whale. Having a variety of coffee down stairs is a life saver. Moreover, daily Taiwanese tea eggs is a treat. The staff is nice, the room is clean and the bed is very comfortable. The AC is powerful to fight against the hot summer weather. I highly recommend getting Taiwanese Mon Tou bread from across the street. Thank you, Papa Whale staff.

Check-in was smooth, and the front desk staff was helpful. My room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. Cleaning staff shows up every day and multiple times per day. The location right on Pier 2 - Prime location if you intend visit the art district. It's right near a station to the light rail which made it easy to get around the city. Overall, it was very good value for the price. I'd happily stay here again on my next trip to Kaohsiung.

Clean room and heat shower pressure, but the room was very small and the walls are not sound proofed at all. The included buffet breakfast is 2 blocks away at the sister hotel and it was loud and crowded. The coffee maker in the lobby was only available for use after 7 am.
