The view from my room on the 9th floor was beautiful and one of the best things about my stay. The room itself is not the prettiest or most welcoming-looking, and the bed was very hard compared to what I'm used to, but I got used to it quickly and I had a really nice time there. The staff are also super friendly, and I was even allowed to check in 2 hours before the official time as my room was already ready. People who complain that it’s old should spend more of their money and go to some fancy hotel where the service can be very impersonal. The Merlin is small but the personnel have big hearts. The photos on the website were not what we expected. Room was rather small and could have used some refurbishment. There was a loft, but you could not stand there… I had to crawl from the ladder to my bed. What made up for the room was the staff. Very helpful! They provided free bottled water and had a laundry service across the street for us. The hotel was close to one of the subway stations and rather convenient. Would we stay there again?…. Probably not as it was too small for us. What made it okay was the staff’s friendliness and we were only there to shower/sleep since we were out the whole 7 days we stayed there.
