I tend to stay at PJ hotel because it’s one of the most reasonable in terms of price and convenience. Hotel is minutes walk from/to Chungmuro and Euljiro 4-ga station, and has convenience stores and eateries nearby. It is clean, has friendly and helpful staff who can speak English. The only downside for me was that I didn’t have a universal adaptor and had to borrow from the concierge, but the adaptor did not work very well and I spent quite some time tilting the angle for it to work. Same for another adaptor which my friend brought. Besides that, we were all happy with our stay, and tried one day of hotel breakfast which didn’t disappoint. Will be back here again!

Nice and helpful staff that can speak in English and Chinese. The room is spacious and with an indoor balcony which is great for chilling.

Everything was great - the location, the convenience to get to the subway, clean, pleasant staff. The only problem is that the hotel operates on central heating/AC, so the temperatures in the rooms are not adjustable. There is a thermostat, yes, but it does not actually work. We went in the first week of April and even though the outside temperature fluctuated from 15C - 25C, our room was consistently at 28C. We tried to make it cooler and even set it to the lowest temp possible (20C), but it remained at 28C for our entire 4-night stay. Not sure how bad it gets in the summer, but if you're not good with hot rooms, this might not be the place for you despite all its other great qualities.

The property needs some serious maintenance and change of attitudes. The door of the bathroom did not close, the air conditioner did work, the room temperature was 27deg while set point was 20deg C. We were absolutely boiling.

Hotel is within walking distance from Gwangjang Market. It is around 1-2 subway stations away from the popular Myeongdong area. As such, the traffic can be very heavy during the peak period. Parking is limited. If all parking lots are taken, approach the front desk and they will direct you to park at a shopping mall/office building 5 minutes walk away. Staff are generally polite and helpful. Few speak English however.

This hotel was the best out of all the hotels we stayed while in Seoul. There is a convenience store right below the hotel. Rooms were clean and spacious. When I checked out, I left something behind and was surprised that the hotel still kept it for me. Only thing I didn’t like was the shuttle bus to MyeongDong actually only runs on Friday.
