For a more vibrant and historically rich experience, Old San Juan is ideal for travellers who appreciate culture and unique surroundings. This historic walled city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, characterised by its colourful Spanish historic architecture, narrow cobblestone streets, and iconic landmarks like El Morro and San Cristobal forts. It's very walkable, with a wealth of independent boutiques, art galleries, and acclaimed restaurants. Evenings come alive with music and dining, offering a different pace from the quieter resort areas.

The best time to visit San Patricio is during the dry season, which typically runs from December to May, offering warm, sunny weather ideal for exploring.

During these months, you'll find less humidity and a lower chance of rain, making it great for enjoying outdoor activities and the beautiful beaches. February and March are particularly pleasant, with comfortable temperatures and gentle breezes. This period is also popular, so you might find more people around and slightly higher prices for accommodation and flights.

For those looking to avoid the busiest crowds while still enjoying good weather, late November or early June can be excellent options. While there's a slightly higher chance of rain, showers are often brief, and you'll benefit from fewer tourists and potentially better deals.
