Very pleasant and friendly staff! Great location for walking to tourist sites like the Vatican and Trevi Fountain. No air conditioning. Noisy, busy street with window open but quiet inside hotel building. Room wasn’t cleaned when putting the “please tidy room sign” on door, only bed was made.

The staff was friendly; however, there is not a front desk, which we knew but I expected someone to be around during the check in time. Instead you have to call and get someone to help you. At first they tried to tell me an address to go to but eventually they just said wait and someone came to us. Then we walked a couple of blocks away and our room was in a different location. The room was fine with clean sheets and looked like the description. The shower was in desperate need of cleaning as the grout lines were full of mold from top to bottom. Also the shower head sprayed water out of the sides as it has gone bad. We read in the description that luggage storage is available, this was true but not at star Vatican. They let us store in a separate hotel on the opposite side of the Vatican, about a half an hour away fyi.

The door did not work so there was an I incident where we we locked out and then locked in whilst it was being resolved and we missed dinner. The bathroom smells but the room was comfortable to sleep in and good location - walking distance to the Vatican and good food places.

No communication.
The room was fine, but the lack of communication from the hotel was disappointing. They requested me to send some info before my arrival - which I did, 2 weeks before my trip by email, as requested. They never got back to me. On the day of my trip, they started to send me messages through hotel.com. I sent it all again and was keeping them informed about my flight and delays. Despite they told me there would be someone there until 8pm, I arrived at 7:55 pm and no one was there. I was desperate. I couldn’t enter the room or talk to anyone. You can’t forget that not all travellers have cell phone enabled! So how could I call? I was ready to go and try and find another hotel. My husband, in Canada, managed to call them. I finally got in, however, with no info about how things would be. When I used the room phone to call the reception desk to ask my questions, the person said, kind of annoyed: “they sent you an email with all if that”. Except they did not. The hair dryer was not working. Or the toilet - the water was off and I had to figure it out. It’s such a nice room, but was a very disappointing stay.
