The location is excellent, about a 5 minute walk to the Spanish Steps & a longer (but doable) walk to the Trevi Fountain, Pantheon & the Piazza Navona. Travelers beware: the hotel was built in 1914 & the facilities reflect the date. The elevator just about fits 2 people holding their breath. The room was spacious as was the bathroom (with a rainfall shower & a bidet) but everything was so shabby. The paint was chipped, the closet looked like it was falling apart & the safe & the mini-fridge were in the same locked cabinet (don’t ask why). There was a large screen TV but don’t expect to catch up on world news - no CNN, BBC or MSNBC. That may be a curse or blessing depending on your point of view. There is no dining room. We ate breakfast in the cafe of the hotel next door (an excellent buffet) & had espresso & a croissant in the tiny Sette Bello cafe across the street. We spent only 2 nights in the Residenza Antica in a generously sized bed but with the most uncomfortable heavy pillows. It is ideally situated. The hotel itself is quiet although on a busy street. We had a room at the back so can't comment if the noise was excessive at the front. The room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable - we had two excellent night's sleep! The décor could do with some updating in places but didn't detract from our stay. The vending machine was a bonus and the restaurant recommendations by Lorenzo and Luca were great! The signal kept going on and off almost every minute.
