An 18 minute walk south on the beach brought us to an estuary system, which was easily crossed by water taxi ($2.00 U.S,), dropping us into the bustling beach town of Tamarindo. Its streets were lined with a variety of restaurants and quaint beach shops featuring local artisans and souvenirs. Once there, we could easily reach a bank and 2 small grocery stores. We took 3 excursions that required transportation, and those arrangements were seamlessly handled by the wonderful El Manglar staff (mentioned above).
