Quiet clean rooms and helpful staff

Thought we would enjoy treating ourselves to a stay at the Forks because it was such a staple when we lived in the city. For what is supposed to be a luxury hotel, I was shockingly dissapointed. While they do accept pets,(which we ended up putting them in a kennel) the room they gave was was obviously the bottom of the bucket. I understand that adjoining rooms can be hard to come by but I planned and messaged a month before we left for this trip. My messages were ignored for days, and I only got a response upon further prompting. By the time we got there and found out that our view would be a wall and ac ducting, it was too late to do anything, as the rest of the rooms were apparently booked. We wanted to treat ourselves, but if I knew I was going to get dirty walls, peeling paint, and a brick wall for a view we would have stayed elsewhere. If someone would have answered my messages, or had been honest and forthcoming about which rooms accept animals, and are joined this massive dissapointing experience could have been avoided. For a "nice" hotel, and arguably one of only a handful of higher end choices in Winnipeg, I expected a lot better customer service. The people at check in were ok, but the woman at checkout didnt say three words to me the entire interaction. No asking how it was, or anything. I booked 2 rms, for 2 nts for over $2000, and got to be grossed out, angry, stressed, and got to stare at a brick wall for 2 days for my trouble. 10/10 would NOT recommend!
