Beautiful area. Not close to town. Supposed to have king sized bed. Had queen size instead. Great to feed the animals.

Thank you for your review. We are 3km from supermarkets, restaurants, fast food outlets and other retailers. Certainly not walking distant. I can assure that the bed in that room is definitely a New Zealand King Size Bed.

There is not a lot to like about Hunters Moon. The room was hot and it was very noisy outside. No views whatsoever. Breakfast was rather like a hostel; help yourself. If you wanted a latte or cappucino you had to pay for it.

The property was lovely - it was a lot of fun to see the alpaca, sheep, and ducks. We appreciated having a kitchen, though we didn't cook in it, and the included breakfast was nice though simple. We didn't ever meet any of the staff, but check in and check out were easy. Recommend the Turkish place nearby for dinner takeaway! And our room worked very well for the three of us (an adult and two kids).

This was a lovely, but humble farmstay property. The farmer was incredibly nice and gracious and we got to feed and pet some of the animals. Outside of Dunedin, but a peaceful getaway.

This is an AMAZING place. The owner is exceptionally friendly and accommodating, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and has a guest kitchen to make your own food if you desire. At 9am you can go and help feed the Alpacas and Sheep. It’s really a wonderful place. If I could give it 6 stars, I would. I don’t have enough good things to say about it. During our trip around New Zealand, this was the most accommodating and comfortable stay. It’s a shame we couldn’t stay longer!

Everything was amazing absolutely loved staying here with the family John went above and beyond while we stayed there clean towels etc everyday took away our rubbish set up everything for us when we arrived to stay very nice rooms cosy warm just perfect we will be back when we can thanks John for everything 😁

Perfect location, surprisingly only minutes from Mosgiel township but surrounded by farm and country. Wake to the sound of sheep bleating and ducks on the driveway, such a peaceful getaway. The hosts were lovely and engaging. The room was perfect for what we needed.

We checked in Hunters Moon looking for a quiet time after Otago uni open days with all the running around that is involved. It was the best decision. We woke up to birds chirping and slept to the peaceful clear skies with the moon and the stars...John the owner was expecially kind and friendly. He helped with our daughter's mobile after it fell into the ocean. He goes the extra mile. Everything was clean and perfect. We felt right at home with family. Highly recommended...will definitely come back 😀.

Farmstay on the outside; typical hotel room on the inside (plus a nice view of the farm). Had a guest kitchen, but it was a bit pokey like it was also part storage room - the microwave was attached to a wall brace that made it feel like it was going to fall off at any moment! Continental breakfast was fine.

Very peaceful stay just outside of Dunedin. The host, John, could not have been more friendly and welcoming. There are sheep, alpacas and ducks on the property which just adds to feeling that you are away from the city.

Nice room and breakfast area. Breakfast was to be included in the Expedia price but we were told weneeded to pay an additional amount. Not sure what we got was worth the extra $20.00 NZD

Sweet Serendipity
We had planned on staying only one night but enjoyed it so much we added another night. Not part of the original plan (improvising due to the cyclone) but definitely one of the highlights. We enjoyed comfortable rooms, a very hospitable inn keeper who very kindly gave us advice on places worth seeing nearby and en route back to Queenstown. We loved the convenience of being near town while still having sheep, goats, llamas, ducks and chickens on the property. Even more we loved watching the sheep being called in for feeding and having the opportunity to feed them ourselves. Highly recommend!

We absolutely loved our stay here. My two daughters loved watching the tuis feed close to the house, parrots, seeing the ducks, sheep, Alpacas, and feeding them after breakfast was a real treat. John is an amazing host, friendly, approachable, knowledgable and down to earth. Free range hens supply your eggs for breakfast, we heard there was even an Owl who had taken up residence in the wood shed which my girls thought was pretty exciting. Our room was clean, everything you could’ve needed was in our room. Communal kitchen was homely and comfortable with every single thing you could possibly need. Great stay!!!

Lovely place to stay. The host was very accommodating and an all round nice person. He helped us out with a room upgrade. We’d love to stay here again. Bed was comfy, spacious rooms and has everything you need.
