Overall, I had a very pleasant stay at the San Carlos Hotel, and I would definitely consider staying here again. The biggest highlight was the beds—they were among the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in. The staff were also exceptional: friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. The location was outstanding, just around the corner from the Waldorf Astoria, making it perfect for our trip.The room was generally clean and well maintained. My only concern was that it had carpeting, which I personally don't prefer. The view wasn't much to speak of, but in Midtown Manhattan that's understandable. For a hotel that is positioned as a luxury property, I felt some amenities were missing. There is no pool or spa, and while there is an attached restaurant, there aren't many convenient food options within the hotel itself. The in-room coffee station was basic and only included powdered coffee creamer. I would have appreciated fresh cream and a wider selection of teas, especially herbal tea, which the hotel wasn't able to provide when I asked. The bathroom was functional but had very limited counter space, making it difficult for two people to get ready. I also would have liked a small sitting area. With only the beds and a desk chair, there wasn't really a comfortable place to relax and enjoy a beverage.

When we arrived for 3pm check in, there was no rooms ready. Waited 40 minutes in lobby. Constant line for one working elevator in a 20 floor building. Sheer curtains shredded in our room. Continental breakfast couldn’t keep up with scrambled eggs.

Lovely hotel in a great area

Beautiful, spacious and comfortable room that is in excellent condition. Same with the bathroom. Front desk are knowledgeable, professional, friendly and can anticipate our needs before we even ask for it. Same with the bell staff and the security. Free coffee in the morning. Free water all day (in a giant bucket in the evenings and at the bell station during the day). No pool. Fitness center is available but not the best. ROOM 3501 is AMAZING. The corner room understandable has windows on the north and east side of the buildings. We very much enjoyed the sunrise, morning, afternoon and evening views from our room. Couch pulls out into a bed. Vibe is definitely nice. Location is VERY convenient: It's across the street from Central Park and about 2 blocks from a subway station.
