The accommodations were different from what we’re used to in the States, but still very comfortable. The beds were great, the AC worked perfectly, and so did the hotel Wi-Fi. Be prepared to climb a flight or two of stairs to reach your room, but once inside, it’s worth it. Downstairs there’s a restaurant and bar where we enjoyed a couple of hearty breakfasts, including the classic English breakfast—these were included with our stay, which was a nice touch. For American travelers, the showers may take a little getting used to. Instead of a single handle, you’ll find two knobs to adjust the temperature, plus the nozzle itself. It was a bit tricky at first, but easy enough once I got the hang of it. Overall, we were satisfied with our stay. A quick note on the area: the hotel is located in Peckham, which has a reputation for being a bit rough around the edges. While the immediate surroundings of the hotel felt calm and safe, it’s wise to exercise some caution if you’re walking farther out.
