Travelling alone, I like small properties with a bar or restaurant so I don't need to go wandering around an area I don't know. The room was spacious and clean, and well equipped, in fact it was brilliantly equipped. The bar and restaurant downstairs were welcoming and pleasant. Two/three flights of narrow stairs, no lift, shared bathroom and shower. My first night the maid almost walked in as I was changing and asked why I hadn’t checked out, even though I had one more day. The worst part about it was the noise. I stay in a lot of hotels for work and this was the noisiest stay. Even late at night, cars are going by and drunk people walking down the street. Then in the morning garbage collection. It truly was my least favorite stay. I thought it would be more charming but it was not. Basic room, basic amenities. The location was not as close to the train station as I would have liked and the pub closes early. So overall, not great. Staff were amazing from start to finish. The room was big, clean an bed was very comfortable. Only 1 chair in the room so had to sit on the bed to watch telly. Food was good especially Sunday Roast which was so tasty and a really good sized portion. Met the owner while out walking and she recognised us and was very friendly gave us advice on our walk and looked forward to seeing us at lunchtime. Atmosphere was buzzing and the place had a real family vibe despite the eclectic mix of clientele.
