This Comfort Inn is intriguing: it's an American motel shoehorned into a beautiful old London facade, shabby decor and everything you'd expect from a Comfort Inn/Travellodge stateside. No frills and a free (tepid) breakfast and wifi thrown in. It's contradictory; brand new and spotless bathroom with a slimy shower head; old and worn (and they open!!! yay!!!) sash windows in keeping with the architecture, and a wonderful view across the rooftops towards the much more expensive St Pancras hotel. No bedbugs (I checked, I felt I had to check) and surprisingly quiet and peaceful so close to Pentonville Road and Kings Cross. Kettle and decent-sized mug in room, but bring your own instant as the free coffee is dishwater. Yes, I'd stay there again.
