I booked Banyan Tree through Expedia and was surprised to quickly get an email from the hotel confirming my reservation and asking if they could provide assistance. I mentioned in the email that the purpose of the trip was a 20th wedding anniversary and they went into overdrive! The bed was beautifully decorated with an anniversary message in flowers, rose petals on the pre-drawn bath and a number of wonderful gestures. The villa was ideal, providing us with three lovely spaces, a nice size plunge pool and a Jacuzzi that was always warm (no heating period). The restaurants were great, providing super food with impeccable service. The beach activities and staff were spot on, and the setting is just like the photos - lovely! But best of all was our Villa Hostess (Obby) who managed all issues and activities for us during the stay. She made bookings for restaurants in house and with other resorts, introduced a safe and reliable transport service, and generally made sure we had the information and attention we needed. We had a super 4 days and are looking forward to our next visit.
Loved staying at hotel. Was there for 9 nights. We had the deluxe balcony with buffet breakfast. Room was clean, the hotel staff were very helpful and we had not problems while we stayed there. The beach front for the hotel wasn't the greatest but a 5 minute walk south had very nice beaches. The only odd thing was that the pool over the road from the hotel (which was still part of the hotel) closed at 7pm. The drinks at the hotel bar were a bit hit and miss depending on who made them.

The hotel is very comfortable and has some excellent little touches to make your holiday even better. The rooms are spacious, clean and well decorated and have everything you need and the 2 restaurants serve up delicious food and drink. The staff are also excellent: cheerful and efficient and seem happy to do anything for you. All in all, we enjoyed our stay at Rocky's and would definitely staff there again if we go back to Koh Samui.
Pavilion Resort is a very nice, upscale resort on the quieter Lamai Beach. The resort is very well arranged with a faintly Japanese décor- very chic and well-maintained. We rented a plunge pool suite and were overall very pleased with the size and arrangement of the room. What few issues we did have (ridiculously slow wifi and a Jacuzzi motor that cut out too often) were dealt with incredibly quickly. Staff definitely have a serious customer service orientation. Lots of nice shops and restaurants just outside the hotel. We would definitely stay there again.

We had such an amazingly wonderful stay at Silavadee! The general managerJason immediately helped us with a surprise upgrade after we reported a problem with our first room. He and his wonderful staff bent over backwards to make sure that our stay was exceptional. Thank you Aon for your big smile while serving us at breakfast. Thank you Acy too! Thank you Wat and Ton. A big thanks to Fan for preparing our surprise upgrade for us and then showing us how to fold towels into swans & elephants. (Thank you to others that I did not get your names).
As you can see from this review the staff were personal and professional. We felt pampered as they went more than the extra mile to make sure that our stay was exceptional.
The breakfast included with the room was amazing...hot items (eggs, omelettes, eggs Benedict, waffles, etc) delivered to your table. A wonderful selection of croissants, breads, fruits, juices, even champagne . We've stayed at 8 hotels so far on our 5 week Asia trip and nothing even came close to the breakfast we enjoyed each day at Silavadee.
We enjoyed using the free kayaks and snorkeling equipment. The bubbling chairs in the infinity pool were relaxing. The grounds and views were beautiful. The hotel's Thai food restaurant was great. We'll definitely plan another visit to Silavadee. Thank you Jason & your staff for making our stay so very exceptional.

Recent 10 day stay, chose this hotel for price and positive reviews. Staff were friendly, helpful and fluent in English. Stayed in upper level room, balcony faces a very tranquil garden courtyard. Very comfortable stay, so close to all the amenities. Abundant restaurants nearby to choose from.
Best to wake up early to "reserve" a pool chair by leaving a towel or personal item on it. Windy days create significant waves along the beach. Those intolerant to cigarette smoke may be affected by smokers in adjacent rooms. Overall good value for the price, spacious rooms with high vaulted ceiling on upper level rooms, but physically showing its wear & tear.

I've been staying at hostels throughout SE Asia so for me this was a treat. However, if a more upscale or even average Western experience is what you prefer... I'd say to spend 3-4 days here tops. The prices are quite inflated for food. If a water bottle is 10 baht at 7-eleven.. It is 30 baht at the hotel. A coconut that is 40 baht on the street is 120 baht at the hotel. Get some groceries from a nearby market if this bothers you. The private beach is gorgeous, lots of rocks so can be a tad painful to wade through but beautiful nonetheless. Friendly staff. One of them even carved a heart into my fresh coconut for me. The small bungalows are adorable with a lovely view. Would come again (with groceries this time).
The second-most popular beach on Ko Samui, southeast-facing Lamai Beach is a good alternative to Chaweng Beach if you’re looking for a stretch of sand just off the main drag. “Grandmother” and “Grandfather” Rocks on the south end of the beach were carved by wind and rain into creative shapes, and within their crevasses are inviting turquoise bathing pools.
