I needed a quick one night stay, walking distance from Kyoto Station and it had everything I needed. The room is small but no bigger than it needs to be when you just want a bed to fall asleep on after a long journey. The owner met me at the door, welcomed me in, gave me a tour and was generally very helpful and friendly. No clothing storage. Air conditioning did not work. To sum up totally uninhabitable for a couple. If you want a cheap stay in Kyoto, this might be a good option. Do note that it didn't feel that traditional + there wasn't much comfort, you basicaly slept on a thick blanket. If you don't mind sleeping on hard surfaces, this might be ok for you.
