« The accommodation is very clean, free hot drinks while we stayed and staff very nice, it could do with a lick of paint in certain areas. The location is amazing for walking to both Grasmere and Ambleside. We went to the local pub to watch the badgers. The grounds of Rydal Hall are beautiful and include the grot and a waterfall, Would stay again. »

« Hillthwaite feels staying in a family home rather than a hotel and the warm welcome certainly matches. The room was spacious and bedding extremely comfortable, which was perfect for a mini break in the area. Extra points for the bathtub (in addition to a full shower)! Breakfast was excellent and the staff is lovely. »

« Lovely hotel. Beautiful setting with an amazing view. The reviews we read before we stayed, said the staff were wonderful and friendly. Reviews often say this about hotels and we were just expecting the usual professional staff. However it must be said the staff were superb, stood out and had a major positive impact on our stay making it so enjoyable. The evening dinner very good. The breakfasts excellent. Definitely a place to stay. »

« Staying at this hotel was a last minute thing due to a mix up at our original booking and I have to say it was a godsend! We arrived 45 minutes after booking and were welcomed by friendly staff and a very clean room. The location was great and we went on a bike ride around the very quaint village and down by the river. I would definitely stay here again as it’s a great village hotel with great staff. »
