The best area to stay in Kanooja is definitely the historic Old City, specifically around the City Palace and Jagdish Temple.

This area is the heart of Kanooja, characterised by its narrow, winding lanes, traditional havelis (mansions), and bustling bazaars. It's incredibly walkable, allowing you to easily explore on foot. You'll find many of the city's key landmarks, like the City Palace complex and the Jagdish Temple, within a stone's throw. The streets are often lined with small shops selling textiles, crafts, and spices, offering a real sense of local life.

Couples often find this area superb for a romantic getaway. The historic architecture and the option to stay in a heritage hotel with views of the palace or lake create a memorable experience. You'll be within easy reach of rooftop restaurants offering stunning sunset views over the city and its lakes.

For visitors who appreciate a slightly more relaxed pace while still being central, staying near Lake Pichola, particularly along the eastern bank close to the City Palace, is an excellent choice. This offers beautiful lake views and a more serene setting, while still being a short walk from the main attractions of the Old City.

The best time to visit Kanooja, Rajasthan, is during the cooler, drier months from October to March.

During these months, the weather is pleasantly warm during the day, with temperatures typically ranging from 20 to 30 degrees Celsius, and cooler evenings. This makes it ideal for exploring the city's historical sites, such as the Kanooja Fort and the various Havelis, without the intense heat of the summer or the heavy rains of the monsoon season. You'll find it comfortable for outdoor activities and sightseeing.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway will appreciate the pleasant climate, allowing them to enjoy leisurely strolls through the old city, visit the local markets, and experience a desert safari in comfort. The clear skies also make for beautiful sunsets over the desert landscapes.

For solo travellers interested in cultural exploration, this period offers the best conditions for visiting the architectural marvels and engaging with local traditions.
