We went here for our Honeymoon and absolutely loved it. We were greeted with a glass of champagne and helped to our room by the friendly staff. The staff was very knowledgeable about the area and helped us to find activities and attractions. The location was perfect. The beaches were never crowded. The food was GREAT and we had wonderful service. We plan to come back here regularly and can't recommend this place more to anyone looking for a wonderful and relaxing vacation.
The moment we landed at the airport we experienced VIP service. The drive, the yacht ride with champagne (Leonardo & the captain are fantastic), the tour of the room & facility. They planned activities, provided 24 hour room service, and overall just spoiled us rotten the entire time. The rooms are lovely, clean and opulent without being obnoxious. Jose, Eligio, Irving, Ivan, each person who helped us out, was pleasant, charming and attentive. You didn't feel like you had to tip each time but felt compelled because they were so AMAZING. The shop in the lobby has fair prices and not pushy like some other shops in town. Unlike most all-inclusive, the Food is wonderful and unique. I admit breakfast was my favorite (I recommend the "Poblano Mole"). The quality of the food is wonderful. Although it's not a buffet (which I think is good) you can just keep the food coming with a 7 course dinner, plus a whole menu of delicious desserts. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a true paradise vacation. I'd also take the Isla Contoy trip they offer.
The front deck people are NOT nice! The rest are just ok! The maintence young guy was great! I stayed in a room w/ broke ac. My choice but you'd think the desk would have been nicer. I wanted to book room 6 for future and they said they can't!! Weird. They need new blood there
Our experience at La Media Luna was positive. The charming lobby overlooks the pretty pool area, and beyond is the incomparable blue Carribean Sea. It is nice to stroll along the water just off the hotel property, but it's not for swimming ( notice the red flags). We really liked the location of our hotel. It was a short walk to nice swimming/snorkeling beaches, and restaurants, but away from the main strip of Avenido Hidalgo. Our rooms were spacious and very clean. La Media Luna was undergoing construction at the time of our stay. It had very little impact on us, as my spouse and I do not sleep in, and our teenagers sleep like logs. But the noise might bother some travelers, and the construction is not close to completion (as of mid-April 2016).
We booked the old building but there wasn't a fridge the view was horrible felt like you were gonna get taken. No safe in the room either. So we went down to the front desk and asked if we could get the upgraded room and he gave it to us but we had to pay a little extra. But it was worth the money to upgrade to the new building. The view is beautiful from the hotel and it's right in the middle of everything. It was a great hotel for the price we paid

THE GOOD: we enjoyed our stay at na balam. the room was clean, the staff was friendly, location is great, food and drinks are basic but fine, good massages, good A/C, decent water pressure, no TV or phones in the room, no room service. overall a very relaxing vibe. be sure to buy and use insect repellent. we were there in late november 2015 and my boyfriend got tons of bites on the beach during the day. THE BAD: we encountered a problem after checking out. we checked out early to catch a 9am flight. the guy checking us out could not find the paper credit card imprint of my boyfriend's credit card that the hotel had taken at check-in to cover incidentals and therefore could not return it to us. he agreed that we had a balance of $0 as we had paid for all our extras in cash. he said he would tear it up if/when he found it. a few days later my boyfriend's card was charged $160 for airport shuttle service. we had initially requested shuttle service however we cancelled this before our arrival date. we did NOT use their shuttle service to travel from or to the airport. we emailed immediately about the error - they agreed to process a refund; nothing happened; they offered a credit against our next stay; while we had planned to go back we did not know when, so we said thanks but we prefer a refund please. OVER 5 MONTHS LATER AND STILL NO REFUND AND THEY NO LONGER BOTHER TO RESPOND TO EMAILS. this has, needless to say, left a sour note
"One of the best places and hotels on Isla Mujeres"
We went to Isla Mujeres for a wedding of my nephew. It really was a grand vacation, a family reunion (most stayed at the same hotel) and, of course, the beautiful wedding. This island is such a comfortable place with a small-town atmosphere, and is a very relaxed and calmer experience than other places. The island does have cars, but not enough to cause traffic problems. It's easy and reasonable to rent golf carts to get around the island. The food was very good in all the establishments we went to and at reasonable prices. Shopping was fun and easily done. The cats give "Isla" a sweet atmosphere. It's a place to escape from the stresses of modern life and just relax--no formality necessary.
Accessible by ferry, Isla Mujeres is a major ecotourism destination. El Parque Natural Garrafón (Garrafón Natural Reef Park) features coral reefs inhabited by schools of fish. Giant sea turtles come ashore at Tortugranja to lay eggs. North of Isla Mujeres, thousands of rare and tropical birds roost at a natural sanctuary on Isla Contoy.
