We had a new King studio room and it was the best bed we ever slept in. It had mini fridge, coffee maker, full microwave. Lots of drawer space and hang up space. We asked for a hair dryer and ironing board and iron(was there for a wedding), brought it to us. Nice big Smart TV but wouldn't work (ever), did have wifi in room. Really pretty room with a brick ceiling that had lights around it for nice ambiance. GREAT shower!!!!! Staff was magnificent and pools are way cool! We will hopefully be able to return there if prices stay reasonable. If not we will at least always visit.
Truly enjoyed every second of the stay, in and out of the room, very nice and helpful staff with good food and amenities. Cecilia and Jaime at front desk, Jaime and Christian at pool bar were especially nice. The reason I mentioned these names are because they went the extra length to make things happen for me. All other staff members I cannot remember names were also very good, I cannot name them because can't remember. I filled out an evaluation card at breakfast, nothing a small inconvenience of hair dryer overheating sometimes and shutting off. I didn't think much about it after that but in a few short hours when I was in the room, I heard a knock on the door and there was a new hair dryer. Same day within a few hours, someone read my comments when I am still there and took action. That is very important, most of those cards go to waste here in USA, unfortunately. The location, amenities, beach, pool, and food are all very good but what makes a place when I am vacation extraordinarily good is people, people are working very hard to make it a very good experience for everyone and for that, I appreciate all the staff and everyone involved. The island is very relaxing and full of good and fun locals and this hotel just makes is better.
"Great location, dont have room high expectations"
Its right near the center, but the shower was awful without water pressure. They weren't willing to save us the suitcases packed inside the room till noon, so we had to pay extra for one hour late checkout (we were in a tour)

"Beautiful hotel and studios on its own little isle"
Very clean and elegant hotel with gracious staff. Francisco greeted us and got us tucked into our very nice room. White, clean and colorful. One walks, taxis or is "triked" to this northernmost island off the island of Isla Mujeres. You must cross over the Bay of Mujeres and the Gulf on a bridge. We were there during the low season, so it was not crowded at all and yet there was plenty of staff for your every wish. The restaurant, bar and swim up pool bar were central with very good drinks and food. In the afternoons when not swimming in the Bay or Gulf there would be warm queso, salas chips and other snacks in the bar area. On the east side of the resort there is something called the "king's bath". With a lavish walkway you go down and reach the ocean and a naturally formed large pool in which you can snorkel or swim for a bit. We could see this from our tower and 6th floor room. With new owners they are doing some construction, but it never bothered us. We think the staff was trying extra hard to keep the dust down and such so no one was inconvenienced.
We stayed at Na Balam in 2013 and loved it. We went for a music festival--Island Fest. When it was decided to hold the Island Fest on Isla Mujeres again this year we of course decided to stay at Na Balam again. We highly recommend the suite with the plunge pool. Having your own little pool to cool off and overlooking the beach is heaven.
Some reviewers complained about the noise from Fenix bar next door but we found that the loud music was more in the weekend afternoons.
The staff is very nice and helpful. Check-in went smoothly. We had and issue with the in room safe and the TV and they responded very quickly and fixed both.
Our room had a king size bed (very comfortable) and a sitting area. The room was clean and well laid out--plenty of drawers. Our room did have a TV but several other guests mentioned their's did not--last time none of the rooms had TV's so maybe they are just starting to put them in.
Accessible by ferry, Isla Mujeres is a major ecotourism destination. El Parque Natural Garrafón (Garrafón Natural Reef Park) features coral reefs inhabited by schools of fish. Giant sea turtles come ashore at Tortugranja to lay eggs. North of Isla Mujeres, thousands of rare and tropical birds roost at a natural sanctuary on Isla Contoy.
