"The whole experience was awesome. Some major points:1. The view is awesome. House is on 3 acres and you have a view of the ocean. You can watch cruise ships go by. No other neighbors to contend with. Peaceful. Sound of a running stream. Lots of Hawaiian forest surrounds the other sides.2. The house is exceptional. Two 360 degree decks that surround the house (upper and lower). Great shade and a constant breeze of clean air. Many outdoor chairs and lounges to recline on. Wonderful place to read a book. I did not watch TV for 2 weeks (but there is one).3. Upstairs is a large living room and a well equipped kitchen. Lots of windows to open and let the breeze come in. The house is about 1500 feet above sea level so the temperature is almost always perfect - probably about 6-8 degrees cooler than Hilo.. There is also 1 bedroom and a bath.4. On the occasional clear night the sky is magnificent. No nearby lights to detract from it.5. Downstairs the 2 bedrooms and 2 baths are large and comfortable. Again, lots of windows to let the breeze in.6. I want to live here. Planning on coming back."

"This was an amazing stay-cation!! From the beautiful property and the amazing rooms, the View, the rooms, the owners, the location, the entire stay was awesome!! Too short and I will definitely stay here again and again!! My family visiting from Montana, thought this place was just stunning and so did our local family!! Everything in the rooms and main house were fabulous!! Perfect location for going into Hilo town and definitely will look into a longer trip!! Thank you so much!! The Inn at Kulaniapia Falls

"Flies in the barn was an extreme nuisance. Uncut grass from cabin 5 to the barn was annoying. The falls was a amazing. However, be extremely careful if you take the short hike because the uneven rocks is a challenge especially if it rain (9 out 10 times it'll rain). Despite that, Jordan, Abby, & Cady (not in order) was top of line from hospitality, interaction, professionalism, tidiness, etc. & they wasn't ugly :-)"

Honomu Place - Resort Oasis

"Our family of twelve traveled to Honomu right after the largest hurricane the island had seen in over 150 years. We almost canceled, but this trip was a once‑in‑a‑lifetime “final hurrah” for my in‑laws, who rarely travel and don’t plan to fly again. When the airline confirmed it was safe, we decided to go — not realizing the island would be without power for several days.Even with a 3–4 day outage, this stay became one of the most meaningful vacations we’ve ever had. The home is beautiful, full of natural light, and surprisingly comfortable even without electricity. We spent our days enjoying the property, cooking on the barbecue, using ice chests, talking, laughing, and truly reconnecting as a family. It felt like “mansion camping,” and somehow it was perfect.Our host was incredible. They checked in often, opened an extra room for us, kept us updated on the local situation, and even had a neighbor stop by to welcome us and share where we could find internet and supplies. As soon as the weather cleared, they sent someone to clean the pools so we could enjoy the outdoor space. Their kindness made a challenging situation feel safe and supported.When the power finally returned, the host generously extended our stay for free, allowing us to fully enjoy the home. Despite the hurricane, this was one of my favorite vacations ever. The house was amazing, the host was amazing,My kids are already begging to return and missing the stuffed animal turtles!"
