We enjoyed the massage chair room too, and all the amenities at the Ryokan. Our only downside was the food, it was beautifully prepared and had a wide spread, it just was quite different for our pallete. In hindsight, we may have preferred the beef option. Very unique to try though! The room was clean and beautiful, and we appreciated the smooth check-in process. The room was beautiful and so was the view. We really enjoyed the forest private bath, and if we’d stayed longer we would have also tried the mountain view bath. We found that the meals offered plenty of food - bordering on too much for us. As soon as you walk in the front door, you know you’re going to have an authentic, Japanese experience. The lobby and rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and their shuttle was very convenient. If you are at the train station, they offer to pick you up whenever you are ready to return to your room. Our dinner and service was amazing. The food presentation was spectacular! The areas around the property allows for scenic, relaxing walks. The baths were also very clean and comfortable. The building is older and does have a moldy smell (which isn’t suprising considering the moisture from the Onsen’s) The Onsen’s were tattoo friendly as I have a full sleeve and they didn’t care. Don’t have to pay extra for private onsen if you don’t have one in your room. My wife and I slept on the Tatami mats and I will say I’m glad it was only 1 night, cool to experience but definitely woke up stiff and sore. The food experience was extremely unique and definitely not for everyone. Traditional Japanese cuisine and ingredients.
