Grottoes Vacation Packages

We were on a College Tour road trip- this was the last stop. I made it clear we needed a pet free room due to allergies. I was told upon check in the room was clean and hadn’t been used for a bit but they can’t designate floors or rooms to pet free for legal reason- that raised a few red flags..Never heard of such thing.. typically hotels reserve 1st-2nd floor or a wing for pets. It was late- had been traveling alone with my kids. We get to the room pull back the blankets and black dog hair all in the bed.. pull back further and even more. It was disgusting- my son was itchy- I had little bites on my feet. At 8:40pm I said I’m leaving and would like a refund- I was informed there was another room and no guarantee in the A.M if I left we would be refunded. I was faced with the risk of shuffling my kids around at night to a new hotel and paying for 2 hotels - one of which we didn’t use. I was told it was up to the manager to refund. We stayed- the new room had no A/C and the water when first turned on was black. At check out we found ourselves waiting at the counter with other guest and no staff in sight for 30+mins until we found someone from facilities to help. We then were told it wasn’t up to the manager it was up to Expedia to credit us. It was a mess- don’t go- it’s disgusting.

The Oakhurst Inn is a beautiful, immaculate hotel right in the heart of Charlottesville. The Inn is comprised of a few different buildings, each with a handful of different units. We were greeted warmly at the front desk and told we had been upgraded to a larger, more centrally located room. Our room was very spacious, with a giant bathroom and trendy but cute decor. We did not have time to visit the outdoor pool, but were told it was open 24 hours! We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone visiting Charlottesville. Very reasonable pricing considering the high quality experience!

Beautiful new property conveniently located for UVA and STAB families. We usually stay at the Omni - the Guesthouse rooms and in-room amenities are comparable. Didn’t see any restaurants, pool or gym though.
