We launched from here to hike at Glymur Canyon, Haifoss Falls, and Skogafoss trail, all under a 2 hour drive. Also, very close is a great hike called Midfell at Fludir. Easy drive to Vic. "We started our Iceland holiday with first 2 nights stay at cabin 5A. I’m glad we did as it set the bar really high and at the end of our 9 day trip, the family unanimously agreed this was our favourite accommodation in the entire trip! Cabin had everything we needed, extremely clean, hosts were v responsive, and being in open lands (yet near enough to nearby towns), we were treated to 2 nights of auroras when we were there!! "The Hekla Cabins are three, wonderful little cabins just off one of the main roads through the area. The cabin comfortably fit two, but there's a pullout couch (at least in Cabin One) for an additional sleeper. The kitchen has a small fridge and a stovetop, and the bathroom has a shower with plenty of hot water (WiFi was also available). The view from the cabin is of a BEAUTIFUL Icelandic landscape, even in the winter; I imagine the greenery in the summer is that much more stunning. The only...

"This was a great house for trips to the Golden circle, and one longer drive to Vik. The kitchen was nice and functional, and or two kids liked their room. You can see the mountain and the power plant from the room, we never managed to your the power plant, next time... Checking in and out requires walking or running to the house if you don't have a means of texting in Iceland. This would normally be fine, but it was a rainy and windy day, so it added a bit of discomfort. Not an issue if you can...
