10/10 Excellent

"There's a lot to like about this hotel. Pros: The staff were fantastic. The room was clean. well maintained, spacious and comfortably appointed. (There wasn't a way to get hot water for a cup of tea but there was fancy coffee and real coffee cups in addition to paper cups.) It depends: The shower was sizable and had a high shower head. It was easy to get hot water. The downside was that the spray (which I couldn't find a way to adjust) was so hard it would take paint off the chassis. If you like a good sandblasting in the shower, this is perfect for you. Cons: There is adequate self-parking but it isn't all terribly convenient. The lot immediately behind the hotel is pretty small. Just across the street (which rarely had vehicles on it) there is a large lot available. It is just a bit of a bag-drag to get from the parking lot to the hotel and you need to have a parking pass (which the front desk provided at no charge) in the overflow lot. On the whole, I'd absolutely enjoy staying here again. The next time I'd make a point of trying to restaurant as well. I heard from another guest that their breakfast was good."

"The front desk staff were not friendly upon checkin. They were talking to each other and totally ignored us as we stood there, waiting to check in. Upon check-out, at 10:30am, there was no one at the front desk. We ate breakfast at the hotel, but unfortunately, my wife's rye toast was moldy. Yes, moldy. It was readily apparent to us, so why the people in the kitchen didn't notice is strange. Of course they comped her meal, but it was definitely off-putting. While we might stay at this hotel again due to its proximity to the Boulder Theater (a 3 minute walk), we definitely would not eat in their restaurant."

"The professionalism from the manager to the staff was absolutely horrific! The manager and staff have a comprehensive misunderstanding of how to treat their guests in the hospitality business! My wife and I stayed at the Ranahan to celebrate my birthday during Memorial Day weekend in Summit County. Unfortunately, our units fire alarm system malfunctioned just before midnight with terrible noise not only for us but also for the other guests in the surrounding units. The fire alarm system continued to malfunction for at least another five times while my wife was present in the unit. We were told to remove our belongings from the unit. The extremely inept staff member on duty in charge of the front desk was incapable of thinking on his feet! We were told by the staff member that the Ranahan did not have any alternative which we could move to for the evening. The staff member failed to contact any of the other Hyatt Vacation Clubs in the area to check for possible availability (i.e., Breckenridge and Beaver Creek locations). I requested a supervisor only to be told that he/she could not be reached. The staff member didn't even offer to check for other lodging facilities in the area. He admitted that he was not given any authority to charge a credit card for our needed alternative lodging. I requested that the manager give me a call. That did not happen until Thursday with an offer to reimburse our resort fees. How kind and understanding of the manager?!!! AVOID!"

Fairfield Inn & Suites Denver Southwest/Lakewood

8/10 Good

"Hotel was located in a quiet yet convenient area and was close to many stores and restaurants. Room was updated and clean. Beds were comfortable but pillows went flat when used. The hotel itself is wonderfully retro but nicely updated and maintained. Appreciate that parking was free but the parking lot seemed to barely fit all the cars of the folks staying however we did find a spot every night. Breakfast was included and was a bit above the standard fare- liked the crustless quiche! Staff was fair. Most were nice but could do with some better customer service training to come off as more professional and personable. Stayed for 2 nights. Met our needs for location, price and comfort. Good choice for concert at Red Rocks."
