Having a microwave AND an electric skillet was a strong plus. Beds were comfortable and room dated but clean. The only negative was the shower which was wheelchair accessible. Because of the bathroom floor slope, certain positions of the detachable shower head could lead to water heading toward the door and not the drain. Given the warped wood at the bottom of the bathroom door, this problem occurs regularly. Check-in was fast and clerk courteous.

We asked for better pillows as the pillows were flat as pancakes and there wasn’t a selection in the room, it seemed to be a hassle to the staff at the front desk when asked for better pillows, the room was clean and comfortable and well equipped

Plumbing issues. Signs stated that before drinking water needed to be boiled as there is virus and bacteria in the town water. Water smelt strange and effected the drinking and showering as well as pathetic water pressure. After speaking to a few of the locals and businesses it was confirmed it was only the motels plumbing rather than the whole town. No fresh drinking water was provided. Had trouble locking the sliding front door. Reception un manned most of the time. Towels provided were ripped and torn, Didnt feel overly clean, furniture needed updating as the couch was old and collapsed. Overall very underwhelming. Would not stay there again.

Arrived late and staff had left key in our room for us to check in which was a bit odd but it was around 9:00 PM when we arrived. We discovered on arrival that there was a boil notice in effect so no water unless we boiled it and even then that is not an appealing option. No prior notice of the boil and no water left in room to help out people who are surprised and now have no way to get water. Rooms were large but a bit run down. We were in NZ for two weeks and this was our least favorite stay. We were safe and had a place to sleep. Best part was the silly Kea parrot that tried to follow us into our room. Those are some goofy birds.

Convenient for Fox Glacier
Convenient for Fox Glacier. Easy to find and parking in front of every unit. Had to boil water from tap before drinking. Beds ok. Ventilation poor. Was very hot in the room. No aircon. Lovely surrounding countryside. Neighbours’ noise very audible.

The room was very loud. Paper-thin walls to adjacent rooms. Water was untreated when we were there so had to boil before using. Very inconvenient. I don’t think that was the property’s fault but they didn’t notify us at all in advance, so it was an unexpected surprise. Fox glacier is a very small town—only one grocery store that closes at 6pm daily.

The staff, a Chinese young man (forgot to ask his name) is very friendly and helpful. He introduced the small town to us, like where to go for what, when we first checked in. The room is spacious and clean, good for 3 of us. -=

I don't like leaving bad reviews but I feel I have to in this case. It was raining and the room had a dripping leak, the curtains and surrounds of the sliding door were covered in black mould, and the shower was barely a fine spray which was either boiling hot or freezing cold and wouldn't have been able to wash soap off. The motel also charged my card 6 days prior to our arrival with no notice. The staff was nice though so I'll give them that, otherwise my advice is to stay away!

Upon arrival we were told that there is no power and they had no idea when it would be restored, also got 2x600 mm bottles of water as the town water had to boiled before drinking. Later that day we asked for an update, they had no idea, what was going on. We were later told by others this happens regularly and last happened the previous Friday and most businesses in the town are prepared and have generators and backup plans. We asked our hotel manager for alternative light sources, and drew a blank look, asking again we specified candles, which after scrounging around two decorative candles were produced, requiring Matches to light the candles resulted in more searching till they were located. During the night the storm continued and in the morning, we enquired about the road going forward, to receive the same “I don’t know response “ we checked out to find the two roads out of two were closed due to landslides or trees down. At no time during our stay, did the manager attempt to update us (our any other guests that we spoke to) on the situation. He sat in his car, closed reception early (with a note for another client giving them a room number) and basically proceeded to ignore the situation

The shower was terrible and the heater took a long time to warm the room up, we were freezing! The room was relatively clean and modern and the bed was comfy. Check in and out was a non event, reception was closed at 9am for checkout. Overall ok

An acceptable unit, but it's winter in New Zealand and the beds do not have electric blankets. Has a heated bathroom floor, but although we turned it on, it didn't work. There is no other heating in the bathroom, so very cold. The management could also have had the heating on in the unit prior to our arrival. Just a courtesy.....
