The best area to stay in Exo Gonia is the main village, particularly around the church of Panagia Episkopi. This area offers a traditional Cycladic village experience, with narrow, winding paths, whitewashed houses, and stunning views of the Aegean Sea and the surrounding vineyards. The church of Panagia Episkopi is a prominent landmark, and the village itself is a peaceful retreat from the busier parts of the island. You'll find a few local tavernas and guesthouses located within its quiet streets.Couples looking for a romantic and tranquil escape will find Exo Gonia ideal. The serene environment, coupled with the opportunity to enjoy local wines and traditional Greek cuisine in a relaxed setting, makes it superb for those seeking a more authentic and less touristy experience.

The best time to go to Exo Gonia is during the shoulder seasons, specifically May, early June, September, and early October. These months offer pleasant weather, with warm temperatures superb for exploring, but without the intense heat and larger crowds of the peak summer months (July and August). You'll find it easier to book popular restaurants and activities, and the overall experience is more relaxed. The sea is also warm enough for swimming during these periods. For those prioritising sunshine and beach activities above all else, July and August are suitable, but expect higher prices and a much busier island. While the weather is consistently hot and sunny, popular spots can become very crowded. If budget is a primary concern, or if you prefer cooler weather for hiking, April and late October can be good options. The island is much quieter, and accommodation prices are lower.
