"I recently stayed at Excellence El Carmen in Punta Cana and had mixed feelings about my experience.
The resort itself was beautiful, and I generally enjoyed my vacation. The property was well-maintained, the atmosphere was relaxing, and many of the staff members I encountered during my stay were courteous and professional.
Unfortunately, my experience took a very negative turn after I returned home. Upon reviewing my bank account, I discovered charges from the resort that I did not understand and that significantly exceeded what I expected. When I contacted customer service for assistance, I was unable to get immediate help resolving the issue. I was referred from one department to another, and during one of my calls, the conversation was disconnected without any follow-up.
The hotel later informed me that one of the charges related to wine consumed during my stay and provided an explanation regarding the currency conversion. However, despite my follow-up communications, I did not receive a timely response to my concerns or the documentation I requested. As a guest, I expected clearer communication regarding any charges posted to my account and a more responsive approach when a billing dispute was raised.
The situation became especially stressful because the charges affected the available funds in my bank account and created financial hardship upon my return home. No guest wants to spend time after a vacation trying to resolve unexpected billing issues."
