Having just previously stayed in three 5 star Italian hotels before the Bernini Palace in Florence, which is supposedly also 5 star, it was a disappointment. Not up to the other's 5 star standards by any means. I would suggest it be a 4 star maximum.
This hotel is located at the heart of Florence and is equidistant from the Duomo, Pitti Palace and the railway station making it a very convenient place to stay. We certainly had A Room with a View. The rooftop terrace offers views over the river or over the town. We found all staff extremely helpful and proactive.
Arriving at the Gallery Hotel Art on a hot summers day was like arriving at an oasis of cool, calm and chic. The name says it all....Gallery Hotel Art is like a modern contemporary gallery filled with art which steps away from the stereotypical Italian hotel. Not only is the hotel cool, chic and contemporary the staff are friendly and very attentive. The hotel is also located close to all the art and history Florence has to offer.....making this hotel the ideal base for your Florence experience!
This small but nice hotel is literally in the middle of everything you would want to do in Florence. Duomo is stones throw away. Uffuzi Gallery is a nice ten minute walk. The streets are safe. Some tips: Florence wakes up slowly. Enjoy the free breakfast. Relax. Florence doesn't get going until 9AM. On the other side of things, Florence stores shut down at 6PM promptly. There is a dead hour before the restaurants get going. But Florence eats late. Great place near the hotel. The location lets you dump bags or refresh yourself before hitting the bricks again. Tiny elevator but that's part of the charm. Hotel Centrale makes for a great base of operations
Housed in the ancient and prestigious Palazzo Malaspina , the 3-star Centrale hotel is located in the very heart of …More
The Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore, or Duomo for short, is one of Italy’s largest churches, and tops the list of places to visit in Florence. The impressive Gothic architecture features an ornate exterior, stained glass windows, and a cavernous interior. Two popes are buried here, and three of the buildings are on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
