The hotel is well positioned for the central station, bus station and a number of attractions. The decor is very dated and sadly needs much work done on finishes throughout. There is wi-fi available, but this is limited in the areas which it works. Didn't work in our room - only further down the passage and in the main lounge areas. Bathroom was clean but the walls badly stained from past leaks and age.
Comfortable beds and a decent breakfast, but don't expect multi-star quality appearance or service.
The hotel's room is very lovely and quite comfortable. Location wise is absolutely perfect. Overall experience in this hotel is much above average.
It does have a few drawbacks. The quality of breakfast is below average and restaurant space is not enough. The room's aminities are very limit. There is no tissue and body shower. However, it is good value for money and on top of that great location.
"Good central location for sightseeing in Florence "
had just a short stay of four nights. Excellent breakfast with wide choice - though not many staff on at breakfast service. Large comfortable bed with good pillows ( not always available in even good hotels) and huge bathroom and shower.
Within walking distance of everything you need to experience in Florence. We were upgraded to a two level suite which was somewhat charming, but small. Was nice to have two bathrooms. Hotel was very quiet - a little out of the main core which was nice. Breakfast was amazing.
One morning we had to leave on a tour before bkfst room opened. Front desk offered to get us a box bkfst to take along. Unfortunately that consisted of 10 little glass jars of jams, a couple of pkgs of dry toast, and oranges & apples, all of which is very difficult to eat on a large bus, not to mention very heavy. We had to leave it along the way.
The hotel was easy to get to from the train station and it was close to all main attractions in Florence. It is a large hotel and therefore lacked the charm of a small friendlier place. Everyone was pleasant enough but no one went out of their way to accommodate our requests. It seemed to be a place that is frequented by tour groups. The heating and Air conditioning is controlled by the hotel which can be a problem like it was for us. We got a room on the inside and although we had a window it was facing the courtyard so there was no ventilation when you opened it. The ac only operated from 10am to about 7pm, and although the May evenings are cool the lack of ventilation from a window opening onto the courtyard didn't allow any benefit to the cool evening air.
The Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore, or Duomo for short, is one of Italy’s largest churches, and tops the list of places to visit in Florence. The impressive Gothic architecture features an ornate exterior, stained glass windows, and a cavernous interior. Two popes are buried here, and three of the buildings are on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
