"Lovely hotel, with a beautiful view of the sea and sunset. As we were staying in exceptional times of heat this weekend, there was only one fan in the room and the windows barely opened. There is air-conditioning being installed but it was not working yet. Breakfast was slow and not very much supply, the items soon ran out, and when we asked for additional croissants, only 3 were brought, for a full dining room, so they went straight away, other items were not replenished on the self-service table, ie milk, fresh fruit. The cooked breakfast was good."

"Hotel was old and quirky and would rate 8 and a half out of 10. We only stayed a short while, so did not take advantage of amenities, but breakfast was good. I am comparing it to its sister hotel in Dartmouth which has recently been renovated, so ranked it a bit lower. As for the price, it was a great value."

"We were a little anxious about the stairs to our room, but when we saw the view it was worth it! But be aware, it is an old building and quirky, some low ceilings in bathrooms. Breakfast was great. Location is the best with bus stop nearby. Beds very comfy and room recently renovated. Had a delightful maid who put smiles on our faces (young with red hair, sorry don't have name, give her a raise!)"

"The pub is in a fabulous position, the room we had was good and the staff friendly and helpful. Where it fell down was at dinner. I was there with my wife for our 56th wedding anniversary and was hoping for an excellent experience but the service was poor, I had to go up to the bar and ask for a menu after waiting for some time. Again I had to ask for someone to take our order, my second drink was waiting on the bar and I had to retrieve it myself. When food eventually arrived (rack of ribs) there was no finger bowl no bowl for bones. My wife mentioned this to the waitress and was told rather bluntly "you could have asked when I gave it to you" I thought this should not be necessary and the waitress was quite stroppy. The food was ok, ribs good, chips mediocre and salad undressed. Would stay there again but would eat up the road at the Maltster's."

"Delightful staff, extremely friendly and welcoming especially to my dog. Lovely menu for dinner and a good wine list. Plenty of choice for breakfast although bacon had been sitting around for a while and was rock-hard both days. Scrambled eggs were perfect. Room facing the rear carpark was spacious and beds comfortable. Recommended"
