The Space:
Fig Tree Cottage by Tiny Away is a peaceful farm stay located in Darlington, Australia. Surrounded by mature trees, it offers stunning views of the nearby mountain range. It's close to popular spots like Darlington Park, Purling Brook Falls, Springbrook National Park, and just an hour from Palm Beach on the Gold Coast.
A cozy 190-square-foot tiny home with a lofted queen-sized bed and convertible double bed couch on the ground floor. It has easy access to water, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. These amenities include an eco-friendly cassette toilet with a removable waste-holding tank, hand basin, and a gas-heated shower—making it a perfect choice among relaxing holiday homes.
IMPORTANT NOTE: There are other cottages located about 50 meters from the tiny house. You may also hear farm animals and agricultural sounds at different times during your stay.
Guest Access:
Guests can access the tiny home and the large area of the farm, including the Albert River, which runs through the property.
For everyone’s safety, guests are not allowed in the animal paddocks without permission. If you’d like to take part in feeding the animals, please contact us at least 48 hours in advance. The cost is $20 for adults and $15 for children.
The Neighborhood:
Fig Tree Cottage by Tiny Away is a peaceful farm stay in Darlington, Queensland. It's located near the scenic "Lost World" and "Cedar Glen" areas. Guests can enjoy daily animal feeding, beautiful views, and nearby nature walks in Lamington National Park. Palm Beach on the Gold Coast is about an hour’s drive away.
There are plenty of bushwalking trails, local restaurants, and attractions nearby. The town of Beaudesert is close and has supermarkets for shopping. For coffee or a homemade meal, try The Hive Darlington. For a meal with a view, The Vue Restaurant is a great choice.
Nature lovers will enjoy visiting Elabana Falls, Moorans Falls, and Kamarun Lookout. You can also explore the stunning rainforest walks at Springbrook and Lamington National Parks, filled with waterfalls and ancient trees.
Getting Around:
By car:
- 94 km drive to/from Brisbane Airport
- 50 km drive to/from the Gold Coast
Overall, its a 90 min drive from either Brisbane or the Gold Coast.
By public transport: We recommend guests to travel by private car as there is no public transport close to us. The nearest town is Beaudesert which is 30km or 30 min drive of the property.
Other Things to Note:
- Good mobile reception for Telstra
- No smoking allowed on the property
- No unregistered guests or visitors are allowed
- We ask guests to dress comfortably when exploring the property
- We have more than 3 free-roaming friendly dogs and post no risks to guests
- Before engaging in farm activities, please follow the safety guidelines discussed with the land host
- We would like to advise guests that longer stays or later check-outs will incur an additional charge
Pre-arranged activities
- Animal encounters (subject to availability) start at 4:30 PM and cost $20 for adults and $15 for kids, where you can feed our sheep, cows, alpacas, chickens, a miniature horse, and camels.
Important note:
- Due to the nature of the property, abundant wildlife may be present on the property
- For stays of 5 nights or more, an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain our cassette toilet and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests. We appreciate your understanding.
