Private Quartiers in Downtown Charleston
Summary:
The Quartiers Charlestonian are a blend of historic charm and modern luxury featuring five queen bedrooms and three baths in which were thoughtfully renovated. These adjoining historic suites provide a private stay, just steps away from the city’s most celebrated shopping and dining.
The Space:
The Quartiers Charlestonian summons the essence of a truly refined Antebellum Charleston experience, through truly paired with every modern convenience.
The kitchen is a timeless centerpiece, featuring a timeless La Cornue gas oven and cooktop from Saint-Ouen-l’Aumône, France, complemented by a whisper-quiet, American-made Vent-A-Hood. Guests are invited to celebrate Old World culinary traditions using top-of-the-line All-Clad cookware and glassware. Custom cabinetry, the kitchen island, and soaring eight-foot barn doors are handcrafted on-site from reclaimed heart pine, sourced during the home’s renovations.
Entertainment is seemlessly modern with a Samsung 4k Smart television, offering complimentary access to Xfinity cable, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video.
Each bedroom is designed for rest, offering sound machines and smart charging stations, surrounded by cypress shiplap walls and centuries-old heart pine—much of it dating back to the early 1600’s.
The bathroom is a masterful blend of history and luxury, tiled with original repurposed Vermont slate dating to 1851, when the house was built by shipwrights. Salvaged standing-seam tin from the original front porch roof forms a striking backsplash behind the hand-hammered, nickel-plated vessel sink. Period-inspired water closets sourced from Kent, England complete the Old World aesthetic.
Outdoors, guests can embrace the Charleston tradition: relaxing on the porch and enjoying the coastal breeze. Rocking chairs overlook Cannon Street, while a private rear porch and patio offer additional space to unwind, complete with a lounge sofa and Acorn barbecue grill.
Operating Permit: OP2025-06529
Guest Access:
Private entrance and access, two vehicle complimentary parking, private, exclusive outdoor porches.
The Neighborhood:
The Cannonborough neighborhood is an inviting downtown area that blends classic architecture with a modern lifestyle. From here, it's easy walking distance to historic locations such as King Street and a selection of delicious restaurants, cafes, and bakeries.
Getting Around:
There is plenty to see and places to visit within walking distance. Uber and Lyft are very common and will not be delayed. Street parking and parking garages are available and relatively easy to access.
Other Things to Note:
We are three blocks from King Street, right in the middle of all Charlestonian activity. Incredible restaurants such as Southbound, Verns, 167 Raw, Malagon, Indaco, and Azur. Great places to have drinks are even closer at places like Felix, Stars, Babas, and Prohibition. There are also great niche restaurants closer than King Street, such as coastal Italian at Allora or creative Indian at Rivayat.
If you want the full Charleston experience, a walking tour or carriage tour is a must. If you have sea legs and are aiming for total immersion into history, the steamboat runs to Ft. Sumter daily and you can land your two feet exactly where the Civil War started.

Great location, is extremely clean, and stocked with all things needed for a comfortable stay, great communication with Randall for check-in and questions about the area and things to do, highly recommend it. Ladles was fantastic and so convenient as well.
This property met all of our expectations and then some! Great location! Amazing hosts! The property is very well stocked and absolutely gorgeous! The two units were more than enough room for the 8 of us! Would highly recommend this property and would definitely stay here again!
We rented Suite A and B for our wedding week with some friends. After reading the review from the past guest we were a little uneasy of staying here and we almost cancelled. I'm glad we didn't because it was an amazing time. Especially because the Groomsmen were on side A getting ready and the Bridesmaids were on side B getting ready. The front porch is amazing to enjoy your morning coffee or even sit back in the evening with a cocktail to relax with family or friends. The house is in excellent condition and is taken great care of. If you're a history junkie like we are you will love the rich history this property has to tell. Every detail was taken into consideration when preserving this historic property. The house is conveniently located to so many things including King St. We walked everywhere! Downstairs is Ladles who offers a great Lunch menu and next door is Southbound who offers a a great Dinner Menu. We would definitely stay here again and Thank you, George for everything!
This property is so incredible…the photos online are just a small sample of what you will find at this amazing property. Great location a few blocks from King Street and the decor and Amenities are wonderful. Great hosts…
This property is amazing. Location and decor on point. Management was very accessible and helpful. We enjoyed the front porch!

Easter Visit
We enjoyed our stay and will recommend this home to others coming to the area.
The location great and we could walk everywhere.
Every detail in the house was well thought through and tastefully done.
We will plan to stay here again in the future.
My husband and I stayed in Suites A and B with friends. The house definitely lived up to our expectations and had everything we needed. We enjoyed the front porch every evening. There is a nice restaurant with a bar next door and other restaurants and bakeries within walking distance. It was also never hard getting an Uber to go downtown or to the beach. Morgan was easy to deal with and made check-in a breeze. We loved Charleston and will stay at the Charlestonian again.

Ultra Fabulous Downtown Charleston Rental
My extended family rented the entire first floor, 5 bedrooms, for my son’s graduation. Suites A and B get a 5 star rating! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 10/10!
This VRBO has everything we needed and much more. The location to the downtown and to the College of Charleston were ideal- a 1/2 mile, easy walk. Several delectable bakeries and coffee shops are a stones-throw away and a yummy homemade, soup/sandwich shop is located in the basement of the rental! The front porch was a key hang-out spot for coffee in the mornings and reading in the rain. The interior was spotless, modernized, extremely well- equipped and impeccably decorated. There was plenty of hot water and the air conditioning worked splendidly. Parking was simple. Morgan and George were easy to communicate with and overly accommodating; the check-in and check-out process were painless. This was by far our favorite of many rental experiences. We left Charleston with nothing but amazingly fond memories.

Liked: Location
Disliked: Communication
Be prepared for construction and no privacy
Pros:
- beautiful property & location
-plush beds/ towels
-Let us check in early
Cons:
-Very poor communication after booking/before arrival. Multiple messages went ignored.
-There is an active construction site behind the building of an event space. This is owned by the same person as the rental and has been going on for quite some time it seems. The host waited until the last minute, and far outside of the cancellation window, to inform us and the tenants of other units.
- The trash bins are placed behind a chainlink fence IN the construction area. Very difficult to find.
- The host came up on the back porch, directly outside our door, and WENT THROUGH OUR TRASH sometime before 8AM, while we were SLEEPING. They didn’t discard them out of courtesy, but instead dug through them and left them.
-Despite being offered and asking for self check in, the host was at the property multiple times the first day, repeatedly asking guests what the trip was for, almost like an interrogation.
- The host was around multiple times the next day, coming very close to our doors and questioning us. Our group felt as though we were being watched and that she may have entered the unit while we were away (a suspicion, not known).
- The sinks in the bathrooms are beautiful, but it’s impossible to wash your face or hands without getting water all over yourself and the area.
-some of the dishes were dirty
- dirt and trash under kitchen cabinets, dirty floors
- no luggage racks
We stayed here this past weekend for a wedding. We were so impressed on the amenities that were provided and the cleanliness and comfort of the home. We will definitely look into staying here again sometime soon.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Charlestonian on our first trip to Charleston. The house was beautiful and every item in the home was well thought out. My daddy enjoyed all his people watching time on the spacious comfy front porch. Thank you for a lovely week and we LOVE Ms. Morgan. Thank you again for everything. The Reischmans
We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the homes and the location. Thanks so much for the beautiful job you guys did.
