What a jewel of a spot! The manager Maria and her team go above and beyond to make staying at Makola a pure joy! So, kind and extremely helpful with suggestions about experiences, places to enjoy in Cartagena. Highly, higly recommend!

The room was small, but clean and nice. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the breakfast was yummy and filling. The building had great character and the rooftop terrace was a great place to watch the sunset. The location is great for getting to visit the old town.

Clean and convenient
Great place to stay if traveling alone. This was my first stay at a hostel.I rented a private room. Room was clean, linens too. The check in was quick, and the breakfast is tasty. The room included a flat screen tv and English speaking cable stations. Easy to find and close to a local supermarket in case you need to pick a few last minute toiletries. Cabs are available right outside the doorstep. You're only a few streets away from the main attractions. I would stay here again.

Very friendly and helpful front staff that spoke english which was great for my boyfriend and I. You keep a running tab on your room from the coffeeshop/ bar which was convenient.The bed was firm but comfortable. Small bathroom but okay for our short stay. Overall pleasant budget option in old walled town.

Solid, comfortable stay but bring toiletries
It was a small room but comfortable. Temperature very easy to control on shower, which led to a better shower experience here than other places we stayed during our trip in Colombia. A/C was great, instantly cooled off the room, which is a big plus in Cartagena. Location is good, but really anywhere you stay within the walled city should be a good location because it's a 10 minute walk anywhere. Breakfast was decent, which included eggs, toast, fruit, juice and coffee or tea. If you have an ensuite bathroom, bring your own shampoo and body soap as it isn't provided. Also, room 206 has two windows but one is part of the door and the other faces a wall so perhaps another room has better views. We didn't mind though and enjoyed our stay.

Nice, clean, quiet hostel
Maloka served us well during our stay in Cartagena. Quiet and peaceful. This isn't a party hostel. This hostel is for mature travelers. Within walking distance to everything within the walled city. English speaking staff at the front desk for those not fluent in Espanol. Maria is such a sweetheart. Our only issues were with the wifi. The connection was weak and inconsistent with connectivity. If you're using web based texting apps to communicate with people while abroad, a solid wifi connection is crucial. Just had to go old school at times. Not the worse thing. Other than that, we had a really nice stay.

Great location and service in Walled City
The hostel was in a great location for walking through the Walled City. The receptionist, Nancy was very nice and the breakfast was good too, especially the fresh fruit juices! Great value for the price.

Hotel staff all spoke English and were very helpful. There are lots of places to eat within walking distance (4-5 minutes) and a grocery store on the corner. It's easy to walk to all the sites within the walled city in 8-10 minute walk from hotel. Hotel is clean and safe and serves a different fresh, homemade juice every morning--delicious. It's a $5 cab ride from airport to hotel (just follow signs to taxi at airport). It's a standard rate so you don't have to negotiate a price at the airport. Wifi worked well.

Quarto bem confortável, cama, travesseiros e roupa de cama...tudo muito bom! Adoramos o atendimento. Recebemos dicas de passeios e o próprio pessoal do Hostel fez algumas reservas para a gente. Vale à pena! Recomendo!!

Bonito hostal pero aún mejor calidad humana
El hostal se encuentra en la ciudad amurallada, muy cerca de todos los lugares de interés, restaurantes, bares, etc. El hostal es limpio, instalaciones bien cuidadas, sencillo pero muy correcto. En cualquier caso, lo que más destacaría es al personal. Gente amable, siempre dispuesta a ayudar. Su principal objetivo es que el cliente esté contento. Desde la recepción hasta las chicas del desayuno. Es más, mi habitación olía a humedad y me propusieron cambiarme a una de categoría superior durante el resto de mi estancia y al mismo precio. En resumidas cuentas, una muy buena opción pra quedarse en Cartagena :)
