Arie-machi

Each and every destination possesses its own charms and magic. Japan's Arie-machi is no exception.

Arie-machi Vacation Packages

Arie-machi can be found about 580 miles southwest of Tokyo, the nation's capital city.

Nothing restores the soul like a day by the seaside. Put together a picnic, buy your favorite wine and take in the landscape of Nabematsubara Beach, 19 miles northeast from Arie-machi. Another wonderful place is Takahama Beach, 30 miles to the west.

Pack some supplies and take a trip to Aso Hakusui Onsen, located 25 miles from Arie-machi. Another good option is Aso Uchinomaki Onsen, which is 25 miles away.

Gokase Highland Ski & Snowboard, about 50 miles away, is great for snow-based activities. So when the mercury drops, grab your ski gear!

Want to check out Unzen Ropeway and Mt Unzen Visitors Centre? They're in Minamishimabara, some 2 miles out of Arie-machi. Another option is Unzen. It's 9 miles out of Arie-machi, and is the home of Unzen-Amakusa National Park and Unzen Jigoku Hell.

You need to head 10 miles north from Arie-machi to arrive in Shimabara. There's plenty to do there, such as Nehan-zō, Shimabara Church and Honkoji Temple. Don't head back until you've also explored Shimabaraonsen Yutoroginoyu and Ariakenomori Flowerpark.

Spoil your senses in this region's cafés and bars.

It's possible you haven't paid much attention to the complexities of beef and noodles before, but you are sure to be an expert on these popular ingredients by the end of the trip!

Dine like the locals by ordering tempura (deep fried seafood or vegetables) and hakata ramen (noodles in pork bone soup).

Once the main course is done and dusted, order some exquisite anpan (sweet roll).

If beer is what you're after, head to a local watering hole and ask the bartender to pull you a local favorite. If they know what they're doing, you'll be presented with a Asahi Premium Beer Jukusen.

If you're in the mood for an alcohol-free beverage, a nice option is genmaicha (green tea with brown rice).

For the perfect nightcap, try out junmaishu, a well-known spirit.

Seasoned travelers realize that an excellent way to get the most out of any journey is to memorize some basic phrases in the local tongue. Isshoni odorimasenka? is Japanese for would you like to dance. What's your name? is another good one to have in your bag of tricks, so try getting your mouth around O-namae wa nan desu ka.

The 23rd of December is when the entire country will celebrate Birthday of Emperor Akihito. You're sure to find plenty of special events and festivities if you happen to be here at that time.

If only vacations could last forever. However, you'll have to say "Sayōnara" to Arie-machi at some point. At least once you return home you'll have plenty of marvelous stories to tell!

If you intend on departing by plane, please be advised that the nearest airport is 30 miles to the northwest.
