The Hacienda & Spa at Hotel Santa Fe is beautifully situated near the Santa Fe Depot and within easy reach of highly rated restaurants such as Paloma and Tomasita’s. The hotel itself is lovely, with a distinctive Southwestern character, and our suite was excellent overall. That said, our Labor Day weekend stay had a few drawbacks. At check-in on September 4, the gentleman who assisted us was rather reserved and did not provide the warm, cheerful welcome we expected. In contrast, the lady on the afternoon shift was exceptionally friendly, helpful, and jovial—her hospitality was a real bright spot. Unfortunately, the hotel’s entire phone system was not working during our stay. This became particularly inconvenient when guests in the suite above us were making noticeable noise in the early morning hours. We wanted to contact the front desk but, without a working phone, would have had to go down four floors in the middle of the night—hardly ideal when awakened from sleep. The shower also drained rather slowly and could use some maintenance. Overall, we enjoyed the hotel’s beauty, location, and character. With improvements to the phone system, room maintenance, and consistency in guest service, this could be an even more polished and enjoyable experience.
