We fought the snow, downed timber and five times losing and re-finding the trail only to have to stop about a half-mile from the end; hip deep in snow and a bit forlorn and defeated. Well, today we returned to the Cold Creek Trail. There is no snow on the ground, but with a 2,300-foot elevation in a little more than three and a half miles, it managed to whoop us pretty well anyway. Still, the bete noir is vanquished. The hill has been climbed. I'll have more on this in the near future, but for now, take a gander at the fire lookout at the summit. No longer active, it is still maintained (by whom, I can't tell you), and serves as a first-come-first-served camping spot, fully equipped with cots, a wood stove, and a ukulele. Pay attention to the directions they give you, Google/Apple maps will not take you right to the house 2\. The kitchen is well stocked and it is easy to cook in this house 3\. The bathroom is really big and roomy, a luxury for a cabin like this 4\.
