"One of the better options in Fisherman's Wharf"
Very clean and reasonably priced for the area. One block in from Fisherman's Wharf at the western end, close to Lombard Street and the cable car (Powell-Hyde line). Good restaurants nearby. Hotel parking entrance is a little tricky at at the corner of a triangular intersection. No valet parking but the self service lot was easy, just tap your room key card on the reader at the gate to get in and out (do not stick your room key into the slot). Wifi was included but hardly worked, which is our only complaint.

"Great location, currently under renovation."
Have stayed here many times in the past. Can't beat the convenient location RIGHT on Fisherman's Wharf. Currently under heavy renovation, but things are sectioned off well. Currently no patio or pool, but that should be done soon. We were lucky and stayed in a newly renovated room which while not very big, it was laid out well. The bench seat by the window is pleasant for sitting in the sun. The elevators are definitely old, but functional. I'm sure these will get upgraded with the renovation. The bathroom could use more shelf space to lay out your toiletries. To get the most out of your parking fee, you can stay parked in the lot past your checkout time (until 6pm). But with the great location, you can walk to literally everything. We like to people watch from the top of the parking lot. Especially nice at sunset. Clear view of Alcatraz directly across from the hotel. We had a view of Coit tower and the Transamerica Pyramid from our room window. Dart board and backgammon set in the room were a hit with our son. The big flat screen has really nice HD quality (if you watch TV). Beds were very comfortable, but we were out all day so we came back dog tired, too.

"One night stay before half marathon"
Cute boutique hotel in downtown SF. It is loud because there are a lot of bars near the hotel, however, the hotel provides ear plugs! The bed was super comfy!

The Hotel Carlton was a very nice place to stay. It is an old hotel that has been well taken care of. I read a lot of reviews that mentioned being able to hear the neighbors. We did not here the neighbors, but we did hear everything going on in the hall and if you are in the hall, you can hear what's going on in the rooms as you walk by. Our room was comfortable and clean. The service is great. For the money I would definitely stay here again.

Hotel was great, however, AC was limited. I believe it only went up to 70 and I got hot moving around fast in a small room. Overall, my experience was worth it at Holiday Inn and the beautiful view made up for the AC.

"Great Style"
This hotel was very cool. They had an old school elevator and the room was very clean and stylized perfectly. Close to downtown and a taxi ride to fishermans warf was only like 10 bucks. Would deffedintly stay again. Also we got an excellent price.

There are so many things to do in San Francisco, it’s difficult to know where to start.

So why not begin with a place where you can do a lot of things at once? We’re talking about Fisherman’s Wharf. Located on the upper east side of the city, Fisherman’s Wharf hosts a number of attractions, including shopping, dining, restaurants, a carousel, and the Aquarium of the Bay. Where else can your kids learn about the local sea life and enjoy some clam chowder in a sourdough bowl? You can stick with the animal theme and head 10 km across town to the San Francisco Zoo. Polar bears, lemurs, and wolverines, oh my! Your little ones will love the critters, and you’ll love the zoo’s beautiful layout.

Want more family fun in San Francisco? The San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park, located on the northern end of the city, is full of antique sailing ships and exhibits to explore. Learn how to set square-rigged sails on the Balclutha, or go for a jaunt around the bay on the schooner Alma. After a long day of exploration and excitement in San Francisco, a family hotel is the perfect place to retreat for some R&R. If you’re visiting in the winter, we recommend booking a hotel near Union Square, so you can bring the kids to see the ever-changing Winter Walk.

A family vacation is meant to be cherished and enjoyed. Get your trip off on the right foot and book with Expedia.ca; you’ll get our Best Price Guarantee on our selection of San Francisco hotels. That means more money in your wallet instead of spent on accommodation. Isn’t that worth another trip to Pier 39?
